AL Noms

Which housing area is your son choosing? Mine wants the Honors Dorms in the Quad.

No dorm this time around. He has already experienced the campus atmosphere since his older sister was there (8/07-5/11). We promised him great rewards for his efforts and he really wants to live off campus. Plus it gives us a place to stay on football weekends. The four years that our daughter was at AU we never had to get a hotel on football weekends when we went down to feed those starving students and we would like to keep that tradition going if the boy ends up there. I would rather put my money in feeding the kids than a hotel.

I can see that, it's expensive for sure, we live a little more than 2 hours from there so we'll just drive in and out. We actually have a place close by UNA (my wife was a professor there) So we're probably going to be passing each other sometimes :shake:

Best

We have a bout a 4 hour drive. We have done the go down and head back home on the same day and will never do that again.

More info needed

Hello.

My son is a candidate for the USNA 2018. I am new to this forum and have a few questions.

What does BFE and BCT stand for? I am sure this is a silly question, but I am a newbie...

The chatter on this thread talks about holding onto the safety of the Auburn acceptance until a certain time? My son will also be applying to Auburn and Univ. of Alabama as safeties. What is the advantage of holding onto these acceptances.

Any help/advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Many folks think it's wise to hold onto other school options as long as possible, up to including completion of BCT in case young man/woman in question changes their mind (or gets injured). That way they still have a fallback plan to attend school without missing the fall semester. When you consider that many of these kids have merit money and/or scholarship offers that go away forever once they officially reject them, it starts to be a compelling reason to hold onto the other option(s) for as long as possible... even if that means you lose deposits etc. "Insurance" is the key concept here.
