The White House on Thursday night told the Justice Department to consider another option after a chorus of critics said a trial would cost a mint and make lower Manhattan a terror target - again.

But there are also problems with the alternative sites being mentioned: a federal prison upstate, West Point, an airbase at Newburgh and Governors Island.

It would make lower Manhattan a terror target....nope, lets make one of our Military Academies a terror target instead. Are they f***ing kidding me?! :unhappy:

The cold blooded, hardened soul Infantry man says we should just shoot all of them so that we do not have to worry about any trial.

Some mild mannered, middle-aged women agree.

For what it is worth I am drafting a letter to send to my Rep., Senators, VP and the President. I don't have any hopes that my voice will make a difference, but they will have to at least listen to me briefly.

I would love it to be explained again, why the trials are conducted in the two court rooms built at GTMO, at the cost of $11,000,000.00 for just one of them. State of the Art facilities, built SOLELY to try the 9/11/01 conspirators.

given it is there decision to make and not mine, I find nothing wrong with having it in lower Manhattan. If people really think that it takes such a trial as this to make Manhattan a terror target
The other issue is the fact that you are bringing the terrorists directly back to the place where so many people were effected by the attacks and making it a big high profile public deal rather than focusing on the true goal: justice. I see no reason why it has to be so close to the source of the attacks and bringing New Yorkers back to that horrible day once again. Also I think the biggest issue that it is being done in a civilian court and we are spending so much money to try these bastards.
I think the idea of this trial increasing the risk for terrorism is a little weak. If Al-queada is going to attack us they are going to do it whether or not there is a trial going on.
But even if it HAS to be done in a civilian court, why the hell is it the high profile location of lower manhattan??? Pick somewhere else!!!
