UW GPA: 3.3
ACT: 32
SAT: 2140
SAT CR: 800
SAT M: 690
SAT W: 650
Class Rank: 28 out of 94
XC: Football, indoor track captain (shotput), outdoor track captain (shotput, discus, hammer), Eagle Scout, Sea Cadet E4, FFA Sentinel, 200 hours of community service. I go to a military school and I hold NCO rank within the Corps.
I really just want to know what I can improve on, my GPA being obvious, but any other XCs and sports.

Yes I think you are competitive. But there are spots that need improvement. Are you a JR? If so you have some time to work on GPA and perhaps to move up in class rank A few spots up would get you into the 1st quartile. That would look better. Best of luck!

I don't know how much you can do at this point to improve your class rank, but that would be a concern for me. You are just outside the top 25% -

GPA and rank yes are lower than normal, but it really comes down to class profile on those. If you send a dozen kids a year to Ivy and Ivy like schools that helps your case. Keep working on those ACTs and SATs, that can help with a lower than average GPA and class rank.

We send a lot of kids to UVA and William and Mary. We do place more kids than average since we're military and boarding. But yes, I am pretty worried about my class rank. Do you think I have a shot at NAPS or Foundation if I don't get accepted?

Your CR score is certainly in your favor. The 3.3 gpa is not helping much.

We can't say if you have a "shot" at NAPS or not. UVA and W&M are NOT Ivy league schools, especially the latter is not quite on par with elite institutions (not saying either is a "bad" school, but they aren't Yale {So much the better, IMHO}). UVA comes closer but it is still a state institution.

USNA will look closely at your school (I'm sure they know it well already), and see how you compare. You may find yourself with a new gpa according to them - it happens all the time.

Get that Math score up and retake the ACT.

All you can do is the best you can and apply. At the end of the day the journey to being an officer is a long one and this is just step one of so many. If you think this is stressful wait for service selection. Put the best application you can together. You can't change what has been done, only effect the now and future. Enjoy the journey too. Work hard, get your application done early, and let the cards fall where they will. At the end of the day if you want to be an officer there are many routes, just keep pushing, one of the doors will open.

You're fine. Grades aren't EVERYTHING. I took 7 SAT's and 6 ACT's. Best scores were 680 CR, 590 in Math, 670 in writing on the SAT. Best ACT saw score was a 26. I've never been much of a test taker. However, I was accepted right out of high school, got through USNA just fine, and and currently a winged aviator. I did a lot of summer programs while I was in high school, such as NYLF, the US Scholar Athlete games, Boys State, and the like. The admissions board looks for well rounded individuals, not just bookworms. As far as I'm concerned, you're golden. Dont let the naysayers discourage/worry you.
