Annapolis Restaurants/Where To Eat 2016/ I-Day CVW Visit Graduation PPW

Red Bean coffee shop in the historic part of town. Cantler's crab cakes and coconut salmon appetizer bites.....

My Plebe was craving a cheeseburger. We wound up at a place called che burger. Must be a take off on the old Saturday night live skit (no coke...Pepsi!) any way, it was very greasy good! It was also funny watching him take care to not get a drop of anything on that new white uniform.

CheeburgerCheeburger noted in Burger list somewhere above.

On Saturday we tried the new Mission BBQ down near the waterfront in DTA. We thought is was very good - busy place! The manager was checking on every table - that was nice At noon everyone stood up and sang the National Anthem - pretty cool. So, you can have breakfast at Chick and Ruths and say the Pledge of Allegiance, then lunch at Mission BBQ and get a double header of patriotism for the day.

During Yard Liberty on Sundays, are plebes allowed to eat in at DryDock with guests present or do they have to get their food as take out and eat it elsewhere?

Last year (2015), plebes were not allowed to eat in Drydock, guests or no guests. Although, they could use the 'patio' area in the main activity hall of Dahlgren. Another option for dining with guests is to bring take-out food and use the tables inside Mitscher.

Thanks for the fast reply!

On yard and town Liberty Plebes in the past were allowed to eat on Dahlgren. Your DS/DD can look it up in Mid Regs. If not allowed, they can request permission for this. Small things like that are normally approved without an issue.

Thanks NavyHoops! I don't expect we will visit a bunch on Sundays, but there are limited options during Yard Liberty, especially as the weather gets colder, so this is good to know. Thanks again!

Your plebe will be able to tell you. It's their job now to know this stuff! MidRegs are always being tweaked. Looking policies up in official sources and getting clarification if needed from the chain of command is a foundation skill for a junior officer.

Harry Browne's.
DTA. State Circle fine dining.

Treaty of Paris.
Ditto above, but Church Circle.

Italian Market.
Greater Annapolis, near Mall, off Defense Highway. Family restaurant owned by my neighbors, a family from Naples. Good for lunch and dinner.

Eggcellence.
Greater Annapolis, in a strip not far from Mall area. When you can't face the lines at Iron Rooster or Miss Shirley's for breakfast. Breakfast and lunch.

The Main Ingredient.
Greater Annapolis. One of the top caterers in Annapolis has a cafe adjacent to their catering kitchen. Excellent for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A secret locals' fave, but I have just blown that.

Grumps Cafe.
Greater Annapolis. Another hidden gem and local favorite. Breakfast and lunch best.

Grapes Wine Bar.
Greater Annapolis. Adjacent to Wine Cellars of Annapolis. Not so much for the mids (though we take food-savvy 1/c there) but an excellent restorative for parents. Superb small plates. Order, share, order more.

Jalapeños.
Near Mall area. Another local gem, quirkily situated in a strip mall. Owned by a retired chef well-known in DC, a mix of authentic Spanish cuisine and and regional Mexican specialties.

We had breakfast at Grump's this morning. Always good. Breakfast served all day. I had Irish Benedict, the usual egg and Hollandaise over bacon and potatoes; DH had the bacon-stuffed waffle...with a side of bacon. We were being treated by a visiting '09 sponsor alumna. Wait staff wears jammy bottoms and Grump's t-shirts. Decor would remind you of a surfer's early morning hangout on PCH in CA. No one bats an eye if you order cheeseburgers and fries for breakfast, as the party next to us did, who did not look like they had been to bed yet. Easy parking too - it's in a strip near Quiet Waters Park.

I have not been hungry since then...

Sugar Cookie Stuffed French Toast from Miss Shirley's

Breakfast at Grump's AND Main Ingredient AND a visit to the Amish Market this past weekend. Bacon pancakes with a side of bacon. Kitchen Sink omelette. Time for caloric retrenchment this week along with caloric expenditure.

The mids with us on Sunday morning had the daily special pancake at Main Ingredient, the "Mounds" - chocolate chip and coconut. Streak-break Therapy.

We had guests in for A-N weekend, sofa seating, and they happily grazed the town with us. We didn't attempt Iron Rooster, but we'll hit it on a weekday during bad weather.

New place, to me, don't know why I haven't tried it before now:

Eastport Kitchen.
Eastport in small shopping center, easy parking.
Eclectic menu, excellent breakfasts and lunch, open for dinner some nights. Excellent quality and prices.
Really good burger according to DH.

I went there for a business breakfast last week, enjoyed it so much, we went for lunch this past weekend. Very much a local neighborhood gem vibe.

Any Gluten free places? Our daughter has Celiac Disease and we would love to take her out to eat when she visits her brother.

So sorry to hear that, as I know it's a challenge to manage around the diet.

One of our local casual favorites is The Italian Market. It has gluten-free pizza. It's owned by a family from Naples. Everybody can eat happily there. You order from the counter and take a number to your table. Very relaxed place.

I am sure others will chime in with suggestions.

Thank you! We will give it a try and my daughter will be ecstatic!
