I am Allergic to the following antibiotics:
-Amoxicillin
-Biaxin
-Omnicef
-Suprax

Would this cause me problems with dodmerb?

In the end you just have to go through the process. DoDMERB DQ's, branches waive. Thus, even if it is an issue, they (DoDMERB) don't have the final word.

I think the answer you really want to know is if these allergies are waiverable. In that case, I would leave kp2001 to answer.

However, I stand with my position. Move forward and apply for the SA and ROTC scholarships, it doesn't cost a thing...but, time.

While you are in the process get your medical paperwork in order for the just in case it is a remedial or DQ issue.

Thank you. I am in the process of getting my records ready just in case. I was awarded an AROTC scholarship to St. John's in the March Board (just found out friday), and now i'm getting nervous about the DODMERB. I can finally see the finish line and I definitely don't want it all to disappear.

Penicillins sometimes has a cross allergy with cephalosporins (the drugs you listed). Both are pretty common allergies and I have seen many military with at least one antibiotic allergy.

I am an RN and not a doc but can tell you that both aren't a huge deal however I would definitely disclose this to the provider at the DoDMERB physical. Just curious, what kind of reactions do you get from these meds? Full blown anaphylaxis or some itching/redness?

One of those is a macrolide antibiotic too. Hmm I would definitely clarify with your PCP because usually people are allergic to classes of antibiotics drugs and not specific ones. Also thinking about 3 classes of antibiotics, especially 3 of the larger ones, might be questionable on the DoDMERB.

I had anaphylactic reactions to the ones I listed around the age of 3-4ish. I can take clindamycin and have not problems with it. I have taken it since the age of four when we found out i was allergic to the other antibiotics. Haven't tried anything else. If DODMERB DQs me first time, is this waiverable at least?
