Anxiety?

You found out about NROTC scholarships already?

Some kids have, yes. A kid in this area was awarded a full NROTC scholarship about 8 weeks ago. My son hasn't heard anything yet, other than it was sent to the review board.

I think they are awarded in waves. My DS received his NROTC scholarship about a month ago, yet he's still waiting for the AROTC decision and he completed both of them at the same time. It is frustrating that most aspects of this entire process, including plans B, C, and D are all about waiting! Waiting is the name of the game, for sure!! Good luck and I hope everyone starts hearing GREAT news sooner than later! Happy New Year! :)

You are correct on the "waves" part. I was awarded a NROTC scholarship in October and others have since been awarded theirs in later months. The process is a bit cloudy to me. From what I figure there are between 8 and 15 selection boards a year. The preliminary boards seem to select some of the more desirable and the other applications go to a "pool". Then the later boards select from the existing applicants. Please take my numbers with a grain of salt, I've heard everything from 2 to 20.

NROTC remaining board dates are

Jan 11-14 and 25-28
Feb 8-11 and 22-26
Mar 7-11
Apr 4-8 and 18-22

Good luck to everyone on their boards!

Hey....RELAX.....You're just like me, getting spun up over everything. Here's how my acceptance went: I had just finished shoveling snow in April (because that's how long Winter weather lasts in Rhode Island) and was told by my dad to check the mail. Upon returning to the house and shuffling through, I yelled to my Dad "Theres a big yellow envelope here....Department of the Navy!" Yep, that was my BFE. Getting yourself spun up over this won't help at all. Trust me, I know it's easier said than done, but let time take its course and you'll find out the decision soon enough. Also, don't get down on yourself about not being chosen as the principle nominee. I interviewed with 3 congressmen. I was the number 2 guy for 2 of them and just a competitive alternate for the third. I was accepted to USNA straight out of high school in the Spring semester of my Senior year. Let the system do its thing and just continue kicking butt throughout the rest of high school

My sons NROTC board met Jan 11-14th how long after will they let us know if he is awarded scholarship?? Would it be before the Jan 25th board?

I think I read somewhere it will be around the Jan 11 board will notify the winners around the 22nd. Although things do change and it could be later.

If you were not awarded a scholarship you will automatically roll over to the next board. There is no notification I that case.
