Any letters received for Marine Option?

by any chance

Wingnut by any chance... what is you sons intended major?

This is the first time on this forum for me...I just called Quantico to check on my son's NROTC/Marine option application and was told he was not selected at the last board but will be reviewed at the next board.

The boards get more selctive over time, right?

Maybe...maybe not...your local marine district may be very competitive with limited slots, the National board may actually be less competitive for some applicants...good luck!

Wells history is not one of the 1st tier choices that I guess are the "needed" one. Things dealing with math and science are the most sought after, however, I got mine with a Political Science Request so A major like history could go both ways.

USMC ROTC First Round Selection

From what I have heard, the First round of USMC ROTC selection have been made and resulted in 325 selected candidates which are then placed in schools slots. this was as of about a week ago. Next step in process is 2nd round of board reviews of application files.

Final round of selections

Green4life, thanks for the update. Do you know when the last board meets and how may more Marine Option scholaships are available?

If there is anyone out there, like me, who has been a bit anxious about not getting a letter, I just received this email from my Marine executive officer:

"I have contacted the selection board and they are currently
placing each selectee in their respective school. Once placement is
complete they will mail out a package that includes your selection
letter and your commitment letter. I would ask you
to continue to be patient as this process takes time to place each
student to their school. Thank you."

Congratulations to all those selected in the first board. The competition is tougher than ever before, and I am sure you are all wonderful candidates with bright futures! I think the next board meets on Feb. 26, and I am keeping my fingers crossed!

All Quiet

Still no word out USMC Nashville, Pensacola or The University. All we have thus far is a verbal during a telecon to that 703 Phone number.

Anyone else USMC?

What % of the national NROTC scholarships are ear marked for the Marine Option?

Not sure but from piecing together info from posters over the last few months, apparently USMC offers about 600 total ROTC scholarships. Roughly 325 were awarded from the first board, leaving 275 or so remaining.

Still no letter, but happy son got his in first board. Good luck to all.

does anybody know how many 4 year NROTC scholarships are awarded (combined Navy option, marine option and nursing option)
