Wondering if anyone has received or heard of any NROTC scholarship notifications going out this week (22-26 Feb 16)?

How do you know you were boarded? DS application just says, "no decision has been made". Will there be a status change?

I was advised from a previous thread that if the status says the following:

    upload_2016-2-24_12-41-13.png

that the application is boarded. Whether or not it's been reviewed or a decision made, that's not clear. It may take time to get the portal updated. I've seen several posts where candidates receive an email when the status has changed on their portal after a selection status change. Hope this helps and let us know if you know of anything happening differently. Thanks.

DS had no idea he had been boarded until he read "not selected." His status read exactly as above from September-February. Here's what you do know, you're still in the game until you read those sad words. He's already over it and will still pursue NROTC at C, D, or E. :)

Found out today that DD did not receive an NROTOC scholarship. Still waiting to hear from USNA, but looks like not great chances there if NROTOC said no to her.

They do look at different things but have plan C&D in place in case. We found out last board. Our DS has found a civilian college he really likes and he can be a college programmer at.

Advice for those with current seniors on plan B, C, D...

    1) Reapply for the 4 year NROTC scholarship. (Yes, it can be done.)
    2) Reapply for SAs -- if that is truly a desired path. Keep in mind, you are just as commissioned in the Naval Service if you get your commission through another source.
    3) Enroll in College Program. Do well, and set yourself up for a sideload scholarship.

If you are do not get a 4 year scholarship, most NROTC colleges will let you enroll as a college programmer into NROTC. That being said, they have 3 and 2 year scholarships available as well. If that does not work out, graduate with degree and go the OCS route. If your end goal is to become an officer, there are many trails/paths to reach the top... a Naval Officer.

DD found out on Thursday she was awarded a 4 year NROTC scholarship to George Washington Univ. She's already received an appointment to USMMA and is still waiting on USNA. Not a bad position to be in and very fortunate that all her years of hard work have paid off with so many options. Feeling very blessed.

We received those words as well but are moving on. My question however is that it states that a letter with options will be for coming. Its been two weeks and no letter. Did you receive one, or get an email notification? Just wondering if the only notification is if you happen to check your status. Recruiter told my son he wouldn't hear until May and to not bother checking. :(

We got a letter yesterday. It outlines the options for becoming a college programmer. Much of the info contained in the letter is discussed in detail in the ROTC forum

How long between the status change and the arrival of the letter?
