Hey. i am in the 15th district trying out for USMA. When people ask where i want to go for college and i say WP, their views are quite... negative. They discourage me alot, saying you are going to die, your college life is going to be terrible... etc. even my friends say this in a serious matter. This is in the liberal, tree-hugging, commi, social worker, non-taxpaying smug corrupt area that is known as the upper west side.

I was wondering if there any others from the 15th district or any other part of Manhattan that has applied or is considering to apply and how the process went or how is going now. I am currently writing my essay and it is quite tough and is hard to just simply continue writing it into such a condensed form. Any advice is greatly appreciated. (P.S, does anybody know how many applicants Rangel gets each year?)
Thanks

I'm from the NY district 3, Long Island. I went through and still go through the mockery and condescending remarks from people. Just ignore it because they will NEVER know the numerous opportunities you've opened for yourself. They'll NEVER know what REAL fun is. I'm a part of the Class of 2015 so I don't know anything firsthand yet, but I was guaranteed by many that it's a priceless experience that not anyone can enjoy. Don't be discouraged because if this is what you truly want, in my opinion, you've put yourself in the best position possible :thumb:

As for noms, BE PREPARED for the interview. Anyone can present themselves well on a piece of paper, but who you truly are is reflected in person. So think about this, "why do you want to go to West Point?"

Best Wishes
