I've been reading Michael Yon's blogs and book for awhile now and was wondering if anyone else here was familiar with him or his blogs? He is (imo) one of the best correspondents around covering Iraq and Afghanistan.

    I agree, as well.

He is certainly biased, but a "pro-troops bias" is one I can certainly live with!

I haven't read all his stuff, but I liked his Guitar Heroes piece that came out during my first tour. I think his writing can be overwrought sometimes, but I always appreciate his perspective. The KW mission he chronicled was incredibly common from start to finish, with the exception that in most AOs the teams were not allowed to stay on the ground during the mission window, but had to be airborne for the whole time.

All in all, a good piece.

If you "friend" him on Facebook, you get all of his daily reports. He's headed back to Afghanistan.
