The "Ring Dance" was last weekend. Are there any photos up to see? I remember last year that there was a website where you could see them.

Thanks:confused:

Ringe Dance photos

I have been lookiing at the photos on FaceBook, CPA Steve. There are alot of photos from various Mids.

So my question does not apply to the "Ring Dance," but since this has been a recently active thread I figure I will be able to get an answer. If my DS receives an appointment and seeks an Air Force commission upon graduation, how much Air Force training will he actually get during his four years at Kings Point? Also do students wear uniforms specific to their desired branch of service? Just to clarify, a midshipman can pursue a commission from any branch after graduation without having to cross train correct? Thanks! GO USMMA!!

Air Force commission

As far as I know, your DS will get no training during the four years he is at KP. He will spend one year at sea during those 4 years as well. All of the Mids wear the same uniforms. There have been several (5-6?) every year that have gone active duty Air Force and I think they get their training after they graduate even though they are commissioned a 2nd LT in the Air Force.

Exactly. I think the other thread is mis-leading as to how difficult it easy (or easy in the case of KP) to go air force after graduation. There is all this talk about "cross commissioning" and at any other academy you would, but here, you just go air force when you graduate, it's simple. You raise your hand and say "I want to go active duty AF" and if you are competitive (GPA, Physical, Ext.) then you're in.

Alright thanks for the information! With the smaller number of air force commissions versus Navy commissions, is it safe to say that more naval flight slots are offered to KP grads than Air force Flight slots?

I am not sure about the Naval Flight slots but I do know that my DS is terribly impressed that his cousin that graduated from USMMA in 2009 got "one" of the Naval flight slots. My son was under the impression that only a few (maybe even only two) were allowed each year. My nephew, though, felt that he made the right choice by attending Kings Point to get into flying helicopters. He just set his sights on flying at about 16 years old and did everything according to a plan to get there, including hard study, good grades, captaining a sports team, being a drill instructor, etc.

I ended up at KP largely because I initially was trying to get in to the Air Force Academy and wanted to fly jets. While at KP, however, I was brainwashed and any thought of taking a commission in the Air Force or going to to Pensacola for Naval Flight were the furthest things from what I wanted to do. Some roommates and other freinds went that route and were glad of it. Me? I was hooked on walking the deckplates, traveling the oceans. Took me a number of years to get it out of my system.

Very little.

The people hired to take pictures did not show up. The academy is trying to organize the face book photos . There are some great shots on facebook
