Any rumors on Cadet BRANCHING timeframe?

Personally, I'm hoping for sanity until next Thursday and a DS that can remember that even when he doesn't get exactly what he wanted(like 4 years ago during scholarship boards) that everything will be okay. I think he's got it under control and has plans to back up plans but I know he'd sure love to have earned AD FA or AR without his ADSO. Momma might be partial to NG here in Ohioland, but it will be what its gonna be....

Good luck to all our cadets!!

I just found this site over the summer so I am way behind the curve. Searched but don't see an answer yelling at me. Waht is ADSOed? (Active Duty Support Officer?)

It was mentioned "any other training other than LDAC and CTLT playing in". Does SMP, with AIT complete factor in score any?

I know SMP gives you a point or 2 (or at least it used to). Not sure about AIT.

SMP points are part of the total Leadership Points section.

The points can help but are not a game changer, if you held any leadership positions in school or other EC's, you can earn the same number of points.

SMP cadets have already agreed to go into the National Guard, so SMP and AIT don't help much. Unless a cadet is truly prior service (enlisted before college, not just for SMP) shooting for active duty, the SMP adds to their OML scores, but since anyone who wants guard or reserve gets it, it really doesn't matter much.

Not true.

SMP cadets are all eligible for Active Duty unless they accepted a GRFD Scholarship. Simply being a SMP cadet does not mean they have agreed to go Reserve or National Guard. Being prior service has nothing to do with it.

Quick question... if one chooses reserve are they guaranteed their branch choice?

Sort of.

If you choose Reserve/NG you would need to find a unit that has an opening for a 2LT in the branch you want. If your willing to relocate to find a unit that matches your branch choice it would improve your chances.

Just be aware that the Reserves does not have all of the branches that Active Duty or the Guard does.

Well shoot. Looks like my school screwed our cadets out of a great opportunity. We were straight up told if we wanted active, we were not allowed to participate in SMP.

I took a long shot transferring from active to ROTC under the green to gold (non scholarship) program. I am hoping it all pays off next week. I guess I'll post my stats as well since I seen some others do it. GPA-3.97; LDAC-E (Top 5); 3/48 in my BN; maxed extracurricular; and 300 on all APFT. I am hoping for choice of branch (ADA) since I didn't put in an ADSO. I guess I'll find out like everyone else next week. Good luck to you all!!

With your stats I'm pretty certain you will be in the top 10%, I would actually be surprised if you were not 5% or better. You should be guaranteed your #1 branch choice. Congratulations on such a great job.

ADA - your stats are similar to my son's, but he chose to ADSO for the additional insurance. Do you know your LAMS score?

was 2015's given the standardized test that is now supposed t be added in to the equation?

Class of '15 took the MAT at LDAC, but it's not figured into their accessions. They served as the baseline for future years.

First of all, your stats are awesome and I know everybody is making the decision to serve but you could have been out and on your way but chose to take the Green to Gold route...that's very impressive to me. Good luck in all your endeavours. :thumb:

I thought the test given at LDAC was to be the GRE . Someone said MAT . Definitely two different tests.
