Any rumors on Cadet BRANCHING timeframe?

What is the special branching program?

In a basic nutshell description.

A cadet, if they have a major that meets the requirement of certain branches they can opt to ADSO for the branch as their number one choice, they are also required to have a minimum GPA of 2.75. If they meet these conditions they can receive the selected branch for Active Duty even if they fall below the Active Duty cutoff line. It is not a guarantee, it will depend on how many cadets select the branch with the required major, they hold a certain number of slots for these cadets, the number depends on the branch.

If you search around this forum, someone posted a link to last years branching model and it lists the branches and what majors are required.

Well shoot. Looks like my school screwed our cadets out of a great opportunity. We were straight up told if we wanted active, we were not allowed to participate in SMP.

Yea someone shot you a line on that one.......

Are you referring to my OMS? If so, its 96.44

Yes. I'm assuming that's "pre-drop"? Cadets from most schools reported a 6 point drop in their scores after the re-adjustment due to LDAC pt and land nav removal. I believe the max is now 93 points? At least that's the figure I've heard thrown about most frequently - maybe Clarkson can confirm?

Even so, I agree that sounds like a top 10% score - nice job and best of luck next week?

I asked my cadre if there were any changes today and they said no. But they could be wrong. I guess a 6 point difference would knock me down to 90.44. And thanks, I appreciate it.

So, are your cadre still saying the max is 100 points? Because I'm fairly sure it isn't, but I've been wrong before. I'd be curious what they're telling you.

It makes sense that the apft would be taken out. I guess it doesn't matter too much seeing that my score wouldn't change for the worst. Just lowered to fit the new model. Sucks because I scored a 300+ on the apft at 1st regiment. Changes are out of our control though.

I'm curious to know if the same adjustments were made to those who attended LDAC last year (Ft Lewis) but are accessing with this year group. It wouldn't have really affect me much, but interesting to see how they dealt with all the mess and people accessing together who attended different courses.

ADSO is choosing to add additional service time to improve your chances of getting your branch or post of choice.

DS passed through for a short while last nite due to drill this weekend. I learned he had ADSOed. Thanks to you guys I did have a small clue of what was going on and was able to carry on a conversation with him about it :) Thanks.....

>If you make Active Duty you should have no issue in getting Chem Corps, my feeling is that you won't need the ADSO.
Based on above I understand you may not have to use ADSO unless you need it? Not that it matters much to him..... I think he is thinking ADSO for branch and duty station. However I have heard him mention Grad School, based on extended service, several times in the last year. I just did not know it was termed ADSO.....

Delay?

DS just called to say they were told yesterday that results have been pushed back from the 13th to the 18th. He said they were given some explanation, but he didn't really get it all. Something about some adjustments...

Is anyone else getting this info, or is it just his school and/or brigade?

Unfortunately, the ADSO for grad school option is no longer available - DS would have utilized that one as well if it were.

Also not available, loan payment

Also not available is the ability to serve an extra year to have your federal student loans be repaid.

I haven't heard this at all. From what we were told, CC is completely done on their end and are going through the approval process. Results will be out 13NOV around 1100 from what we were told yesterday. Hope this helps.

I haven't heard anything about this... I really hope this isn't the case, I'm going insane waiting as it is. Last I heard, they had already sent up the results to the GEN Odierno and that they should have been down to brigades by the end of this week, so I'm sitting here with my fingers crossed...

My son was told the same thing by his Cadre yesterday, Nov. 18th.

Doesn't surprise me a bit, after watching 7 years of ROTC with two sons nothing ever came out on the date first scheduled. Don't get your heart set on that date either, it would not be surprising if it pushed back a second time.

The problem is that when CC says they're done and send the results to the CoS, that does not mean it is for just a simple signature. The CoS reviews the results, his people compare it to what they want, this does not take just overnight. Adjustments are asked for and the whole thing is sent back to CC, they make the adjustments and send it back to the CoS's office. These things take time and are probably not on the top of the CoS's office priority list.

Be happy if you hear before Thanksgiving Break.

Thanks for all of your input on all of this! I'm curious what adjustments need to be made... hmmmm.

DS also was told this morning during class by PMS that delay is until 18th, but even that is still very "fluid". Its not surprising - gotta luv CC... agree - hopfully by Thanksgiving.

Adjustments to the AD/Reserve numbers, adjustments to the individual branch numbers, Nursing numbers, there is a long list of adjustments they could be making.

Of course. I guess I'm just curious which way things will swing.

It really depends on the weather and if they are doing this outside. If it's windy then the darts they throw at the very large dartboard might drift a little one way or the other, this could mean more or less AD depending on which way the wind is blowing. Of course it will depend on whether they do this on "Blindfold Friday", the darts just fly all over the place on that day.

Best of luck everyone.
