If you can state your congressional district and if you received any nomination notifications yet (from any moc-congressman/woman or lautenberg/menendez), that would be great.....someone using this forum kept a running new jersey listing for the class of 2013.... And i will volunteer to do it for the class of 2014

NJ 2nd. DD had interviews in November for both Senators at Middlesex County College, and an inteview in December for our Congressman in Mays Landing.

She is only looking for a USNA nom.

I am personally not expecting to hear anything until late January, based on everything I have read about how it was done last year. DD is focused on school so probably isn't killing herself every day wanting to know (unlike me  ).

Daughter recieved a nomination for West Point from Congressman Adler this week!! Has an LOA there!! Hang in there!!

Wow that's early....but Adler's new so maybe he wants to be different :)

Congrats!

New jersey nominations to date as of 12/20/09:

Congressman john adler 3rd district

New jersey nominations to date as of 12/23/09:

Congressman john adler -----------3rd district
Congressman Frelinhuysen ---------11th district

same as subdude, interviews for D12 in November for Senators (concurrent interview approach which was appreciated) at MCC, December interview for Congressman at Rider. I really don't expect to hear until end of January either.

I'll watch this thread though!

thank you for staying tuned to this thread......as soon as we hear from NJ Congressmen and Senators, I will make sure that I update this post.....it seems that most of us in NJ will just have to wait until late January....

ARE THESE THE ONLY TWO MOCS THAT HAVE NOMINATED FROM NEW JERSEY SO FAR?

ADLER
Frelinhuysen

My son received his nomination from Congressman Rush Holt, 12th district

LoBiondo Nominations

I applied last year to USNA Class of 2013 and received a nomination from Congressman LoBiondo. The letter was dated January 22, 2009. I didn't get an appointment last year, but decided to re-apply for the Class of 2014. LoBiondo's nominations are coming soon...no worries.

Just received Holt rejection letter 01-07-2010 :frown: but that's okay, received NAPS selection letter 12-24-2009 :thumb:

and making the nomination rounds next year with support :thumb:

there's still something disappointing deep down about receiving any rejection letter...

on the other side, college applications starting to come back accepted with some offers for scholarships. That feels good.

Will a Lautenberg or Menendez or VP nom be a possibility for you? Keep your chin up......

NJ MOC

My D has an interview Wednesday night with Congressman D. Payne. She hasn't heard anything yet from Senators Lautenberg or Menendez.

According to his website, Senator Lautenberg sends the approved list of nominess to the academies January 31. I couldn't find details on Menendez's website.

Son received nomination from Holt, so we do not anticipate another nom from either Senator because NJ is very competitive.

My son interviewed with Menendez and Lautenberg. At the time of the interview, I had a long conversation with the lady that coordinates for Menendez. She told me to expect some word around mid-January and that my son would hear something one way or the other. She specifically said that she couldn't speak for the way Lautenberg's office handles things. But she was very gracious and told me to email if I had any questions in January.

My son has since received the nomination he was looking for from our Representaive, but that letter only came within the last couple of days. I bet they are all on a similar time schedule.

Yes Pasquinel, they are possible (and will feel good if received!) but no longer necessary this year as the NAPS program does not require one. But I do appreciate your supporting thoughts. :thumb:

I guess my post really spoke to the NAPS selection, don't really need the nomination this year and if they don't come, that's okay. It will be far more meaningful next year and, from what I understand, the MOCs will get some nudging from the Admin Office at the SA (given a successful NAPS experience ).

Unless I'm misinformed...........

No need for nominations next year if you choose NAPS this year...right?

Hi can you tell me which Representative so I can update our NJ posting?

Subdude, as I understand it, I believe that on successful completion of NAPS (successful academics) and a recommendation from the NAPS CO, a nomination is "found" for the Midshipman Candidate. The NAPS 09 Candidate Guide states that "The Naval Academy Admissions Board offers appointments to NAPS students in early May. Selection criteria include: Successful completion of the course of instruction at NAPS, no failing grade in any subject, favorable physical aptitude and a favorable recommendation from the Commanding Officer of the Naval Academy Preparatory School. The same criterion applies to the USCGA." That does imply that a nomination is not required.

I believe a nomination is required to gain an appointment to USNA (and of course the other two SA's), period. An appointment is contingent on a nomination, NAPS entry is by selection and does not require a nomination, but subsequent USNA entry still does. This is supported by the item in the NAPS 08 CG under the Administrative Checklist that states "Students bound for the U.S. Naval Academy must reapply for a Congressional nomination. Your applications for Congressional nominations for the class of 2014 should be completed no later than July 10th, prior to arriving at NAPS. Bring the names and address of your U.S. Senators and your Representative with you."

So we will be doing this again next year! Can't wait.
