Anyone hear for AROTC?

I check every 30 minutes or so. There are always another bunch that have posted. No apparent pattern. Not alphabetical. Not by school or state of residence.

Is this on the PMS side of the portal? Will anything post to the applicant side of the portal tonight or only during Ft Knox Hours...

I used to live on Ft Knox as a kid. Loved it. Army Brat!

Just checked the portal...again...and my DS's medical staus has not changed. It still says "not received" and a DOdMERB packet has not been received. I'm beginning to think this might be a bad sign.

Same here...My son just checked and there is no change on his portal either.

The second board results have been nortoriously slow in the past. 2 years ago it took over 2 months to get the results, last year it was faster. Be ready for anything, I understand how difficult the waiting can be.

To be honest though, I'm just anxious to hear "anything" from them, regardless of rewarded a scholarship or not. I just really want to be in the AROTC program at my nearby battalion and be in uniform already. Gives me another motivational factor to not screw around with my studies and persevere through the four years so that I get commissioned. To me it's not that much about the scholarship money but more of the career that follows once I'm commissioned.

Your already ahead of the game with that type of attitude.

If you do not receive a scholarship, keep that attitude, prepare yourself physically for the APFT before school starts. Start the year stron with a good GPA and a high APFT and good things will happen.

Best of luck.

DSS's medical status was also just changed to "received" (and he did not apply to academies) but again, it seems we don't know if that really means anything in terms of scholarship status.

My son is hoping for University of Alabama or Auburn. One thing that we have learned, however, is that God has been able to turn the biggest disappointments into blessings. I am sure that this journey will be no different. Regardless of outcome, we know that "All things work for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose."

Good luck to all.

I don't think I've ever seen someone going for either Alabama or Auburn. The friends I have there were either all for one or a school in a different state. I'd go Alabama, Auburn is just "turrible." (pun intended)

I've been following some posts on this forum for a couple weeks now, and I finally decided to make an account.

Anyways, I just wanted to add that I'm applying for the AROTC scholarship too, and my medical status has not changed - It still says "not received." I agree with some other posts though, I have a feeling this may be a bad sign. :frown:

Hang in there. Despite the portals being medically changed, nothing else has come around. So, I wouldnt count yourself out by NO means. There are a ton of applications to be reviewed. Hopefully, they just have yet to update your portal.

My medical has not changed either. I did apply to a SA and went through DODMERB and passed. But one of the prior posters indicated that they had not applied to a SA yet his/her status for Medical shows received. How is this possible for the portal to show received if they have not taken a physical?

Also even if an applicant did submit to a DODMERB physical for a SA, how would cadet command know unless they requested the applicant to submit to an exam?

This is merely a shot in the dark. If a ROTC candidate is in the running for a scholarship, cadet command requests info from DoDMERB, whether a physical was performed or not. No matter the answer, cadet command then marks in their portal as, DoDMERB:received. I think it may just mean information received. I could absolutely be way off. Hoerver, my DS did do a DoDMERB and is considered qualified. His dodmerb status did change today. There are those who never got a physical and they are reading received also. I hope I didnt confuse you any more.

I understand that those who have taken the DoDMERB are seeing changes in their status. But who are those who never got a physical who are seeing status changes in their med status? Has anyone who did not get a physical seen a change? Do you know of anyone? Thanks.

Yes. Some folks who have never got a physical are showing received.

A couple years ago, when the status page changed to say:

"You may check your medical qualification status by visiting the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board DoDMERB WebSite"

it almost always meant that a scholarship offer was coming in a day or so.

This change was seen by applicants that had not yet had their Dodmerb physical.

Today this statement is not seen on the status page. It's really anyone's guess whether the status change to "Received" for medical means anything or not, although any change to the status could be seen as a good omen.

I actually went to DS's DoDMERB page. There was no changes in that page other than academy information.

Thanks Jcleppe. What you say is true. Two years ago my older son saw that and also received the DoDMERB packet in the mail prior to any other info. I think this year there are those that have taken the DoDMERB that could be seeing status changes but none that haven't taken the DoDMERB yet.
Meanwhile, ROO e-mailed son last week and invited him up a week from this Wednesday to "shadow a cadet" for a day on Campus.
We remain hopeful.
Good-luck to Everyone!

Has anyone noticed that the medcal statushas changed? My DS has his DODMERB done and hs been qualified for months now. His portal just changed this afternoon to to received. It has previously stated not received before, even up to this morning.

I saw this post and thought 'What are medical statushas?...sounds Russian"

It was 1 Missippi, 2 Missippi before I got it right. At that moment I realized my eyes had lapped my brain. Get old enough and it will happen to you too.

(Sorry to divert the thread. Please proceed, Governor)
