Our congressman didn't do interviews this year. They said there were too many applicants so they went by the application/stats alone to decide who go the nominations.
My DS received a nom from his congressman and Burris last month and today he received a letter from Durbin stating that "......I cannot nominate you, too, and still insure that all qualified candidates come to the attention of the academies......" I thought a candidate could get 1,2,3,4 nominations? Do some Senators not add qualified candidates to their slates if they already have a nom? Or, did my DS fall short of Durbin's slate? Or, could Durbin tell that my DS would get an appointment from the other MOC's so he didn't want to "waste" a space on him (hopeful thinking)?! Or....Or.....Or.....
I, too, must come out of the closet and admit that I am a forum junkie! Thank God my DS is not......one crazy person in the family is enough.
I'm so sorry to hear that your DS did not make it on Durbin's slate. I never imagined how "consuming" this whole process is. Did he receive his district nom? What about AFROTC?
DS did get congressmen's nom. Is also seeking AFROTC. He has wanted to be in the military since I can remember. Narrowed down his choice of branches to the Air Force by doing much research.
