alexander and bailey, you do realize, right, that you will take the dreaded Chemistry 215, all kinds of MATH, several engineering courses, blah blah blah...
They don't call it "the Little Engineering College in the Rockies" because they excel at horticulture.
Now, Alexander, PLEASE! Go change your screen name. Thank you from a concerned (and knowledgeable) mother.
While engineering degrees and classes are a priority at USAFA, not liking math and science is not something that should discourage applicants or appointees. I've actually never heard the "little engineering school in the Rockies" nickname anywhere but this forum. I was told to take Calculus as well and I don't regret not taking it, because I was definitely not ready in high school. I am a fuzzy major, and while I don't particularly enjoy physics, chem, math, and engineering, I am able to take them on just the same. If you really apply yourself and know when to get help, you will be just fine. My recommendation is to take AP classes that interest and challenge you. If Calc is one of those, so be it.
As a "fuzzy" major, I think it's really too bad that classes like English, Philosophy, and Behavioral Sciences are seen as less important here when they are just as beneficial as physics, engineering mechanics, etc. They have a ton of value that is all too often disregarded.
