What does it mean if your application is termed "competitive"? Mine was termed competitive, officially, and I am a prospective candidate for 2019. I was waitlisted for the Summer Seminar.

Where does is say on your application that you are "competitive"?

It will show up on the official correspondence part of the portal. I got that last year, as did everyone who was promoted to candidate status I do believe. Don't look too much into it.

It says your application is competitive. Nothing more. Nothing less. As you go through this process do not try to read the tea leaves, just take things at face value. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Does "competitive" show in the "Your Status" bar? I thought that it could only read, prospect, applicant, or candidate.

This morning I woke to a message on my portal saying that I was also deemed competitive, and it says they will send more info in July. Do we just hang tight until the candidate phase begins or is there more on the app to fill out before? Thanks!

You hang tight! Once the 2018 class is finished, they will start back up again with the 2019 class. For now, they are pretty busy with the previous class.

Congrats and good luck!

"Competitive" is shown if and until you are promoted to "Candidate" status.
