I just finished my application. My transcript is still en-route as of last Monday (the 22nd), and I live in Florida so it will take a bit. Does anyone know when in September the admission board meets for the first time? On another note... time to finish the other 8 applications on my calendar, lol!

Probably early Sept after Labor Day is my best guess, but it's only a guess. Remember it's not first in, first to be reviewed. Also, for the most part until you have a Nom not much can happen. Sure an LOA is possible but the board doesn't have to meet for those. Bottom line, it's great you are done. Focus on your Nom packages and be prepared for a wait that could last until April.

What happens if you're done with everything and have a nom? I was finished with everything August 5th plus I have a presidential nom. Could I hear back early? Thanks.

Congrats on the Presidential Nom, that is very impressive.

Just like any other candidate, you could hear between now and April 15th. Apply for all Nom sources. Remember that Presidential usually has over 800 candidates who qualify for that Nom but only 100 can be charged to that source. I tell all candidates to mentally prepare for a long wait, if it comes earlier, even better.

This isn't to say the candidate isn't impressive, but Presidential nominations are non-competitive...if the parents qualify for time-in-service or have enough reserve points, the candidate automatically receives the nomination after filling out some paperwork and providing proof. I guess, what could be impressive, is the parent(s)' service to our country.

You could, but you also may not. I wouldn't expect anything early -- this is to manage your expectations.

I believe they have started meeting.

Never JUST wait. What are your ACT/SAT scores? Perfect? If not, study and retake. Can you make Captain in any sport? That's something that can be updated to file by having coach write letter, and may make a difference. Point being, just because everything in doesn't mean you shouldn't be working on your application.

Is this the norm for USNA ? USAFA and USMA use the same protocol on issuing LOAs ?

Yes, the full Admissions Board does not need to decide LOAs. It is why some candidates have received LOAs over the summer (including the one handed out at NASS).
