I just tried to change my schools of intent, and it has restricted me from doing so. I have been "boarded". What if I hear back from one and get a no? Or decide to withdraw my app from that school? I guess I was not done haha. :frown:

Will it open back up at one point?

I thought that you could change schools of intent even though it's been reviewed but I guess that would not make much sense.

My app has been boarded too that is really quick! Good luck to you!

If you are not admitted, but receive a scholarship, come April you will be allowed to request the scholarship to be transferred to the school you do matriculate to for the fall. It is not a given that they will allow it to be transferred.

Thus, make sure you can afford to attend the college without the scholarship because by the time you are allowed to request the transfer most colleges already want their deposits, and for some schools it is non-refundable. Dropping down two deposits (one for non.scholarship, one for scholarship) could cost anywhere from 500 to 1000 in total.

There are a couple of threads on here about changing your school choice after your application has been boarded.

Yes, I talked with Cadet Command about 2-3 weeks ago and was told that CC would be locking out changes to school selection changes/priorities if the applicant was boarded or about to be boarded. I gather they ran into some issues with applicants updating school selection just before/during the last board. I think my D was part of that group as she made changes a few days before the last board. But CC also told me you can still make changes if you e-mail them with the request. They will let you know if the change is possible - if there is enough time before the next board convenes.

Better to have your school choice in the correct order with schools that you are likely to get admitted to. I understand listing "reach" schools, but I think a lot of ROTC scholarship applicants don't realize that getting a scholarship to a "reach" school doesn't guarantee admittance to the school. Your GPA/ACT/SAT/ECs and total application package to "reach" schools is going to be in competition with everyone else who has applied, including those with perfect GPAs/ACT/SAT scores, etc. who may or may not be applying to ROTC.

How do you know you have been boarded?? My son has been able to change his college choices twice now. Does that mean he has not been boarded yet? His app was complete in August.

Log into the application site (not the status site). Under the tab marked "Selection Status" it shows several options: DQed, Ineligible, Eligible, Interviewee, Board Ready, Boarded, or Winner. The top says something like "Your Scholarship Selection Status is Currently ___________" Below that it explains what each option means.

What application site is that? We don't have any of the tabs on our app site. Is this for Navy or a different branch?

Yes we are referring to the Army, my status is Boarded.

I have completed every aspect of the app. I am impatiently awaiting their decisions...

Talked to my PMS officer and if it's been boarded as of today or prior you'll receive notification of scholarship in 2 weeks. If not your app is rolled over to the March review board. Good luck! :)
