Application status changed to "Hold"

Hello, I check my USMMA portal on a regular basis to see if any updates have come my way; however, this morning I saw that my application status had changed from "On File" to "Hold". I have read various threads on what this means but many of them do not give a definite answer, could anyone please tell me is this good or bad, I understand it is not conditional nor principal so there is nothing to be excited for quite yet :confused: . Thanks guys!
 
From our experience "Hold" is exactly what it says! Some "Hold" candidates go on to Principal and some do not! It depends on where you are on the list of candidates for your State and how many slots become available for your State. Some LOA's have gone out and some appointments have gone out and depending on how many of these are accepted/declined will decide your fate. There are many factors that go into an appointment so it won't be any one thing or another. It is a complicated and thorough process. Our DS kept updating his file with his accomplishments and calling and speaking to admissions himself so they remembered his name.:wink:
 
Good luck Semper! My DS is in the same "hold" status. I was told that decisions on remaining slots from our state won't be made til late February to early March. DS has a 4 year ROTC scholarship (college has matched for tuition) but his heart is set on USMMA. Anxiously waiting...
 
my status changed from "on file" to "apps closed." does anyone knows what that means? i thought that if you get turned down the status would read "denied." everything was turned in but SAT score was low.
 
Call the admissions office and ask them what the terms mean. IE app closed, hold, etc. I fear "closed" is their code for denied...hope I am wrong. Good luck
 
Don't panic. Before when they were in the midst of changing the statuses it was blank. This may be an update to that system. Apps closed may mean all statuses are unavailable or more likely statuses that may be changing are unavailable.

I have been talking with a coach who wants me to attend USMMA. His correspondences in email said "We would like to fully support your file at admission. We are allowed to only support a few files a year so we have decided that you are strong candidate and someone who we feel would greatly benefit from our Academy and also help the program. This does not guarantee you will be admitted but it puts your file to head of the pack while also giving you additional points in the admission process. Applicants must reach an X amount of points before they are appointed an LOA (letter of Assurance)."
MMA is my top choice and I am a little nervous but hopeful that the hard work in I also put in in athletics will help me.. Im not sure though.. What are my chances?

You are now competing against other applicants from your state and will also be on a list nationally. Each state has a quota and if a state doesn't fill it's quota then they draw from the national list. My son, also an athlete, is in the same position as you - 'Hold'. They are still sifting through all those applicants that received nominations (deadline was Jan. 31) which will take a while. Best of luck to you.
 
Has anyone out there from NYS moved off their "hold" status to a different status in the last 2 weeks?

The deadline for applications is Friday. A lot of people sitting in limbo will get answers soon. Hang in there!
 
CONGRATS!!!!! There is a GREAT parents class of 2017 FB page and there is also a page for the students! Make sure you join and if your parents have FB, they join!

Are you currently on hold? If so, how long have you been on hold for?
