Application status changed to "Hold"

I think it's May 1st, but could vary from year to year

You should know this, enough to dream this and speak it in your sleep. Serious applicants/appointees of any academy would know their deadlines and the fact that you don't (The teacher in me is being polite in wording this next part productively) means you need to spend some serious time thinking about academy life. Ok, you are not there yet, so use this not knowing as lesson one at KP. You are expected to know what you are expected to know. Plain and simple. If you don't, you will be chewed up and spit out.

Cool your jets. Take a chill pill, please.

Just curious as my son is still on 'Hold', did you receive anything in the mail on your acceptance or was it just from the change of status on online portal?

I checked my portal that night and saw 'principal'. The next day, my congressman called me to let me know.

How's this?: You are expected to know even what you are NOT expected to know. I think this poster means, "at KP, you need to be resourceful, and find a way to get things done" In this case, a call to the admissions office would have given you specific answer...just sayin

AMF: I never said you should know even what are NOT expected to know. I think you misread the posting. Yes, at KP you must be resourceful.More so than at other academies.

Skydivingkittens: There are many postings on this site which are much harsher (wait till you get to KP and hear the same attitudes or harsher). No lie. The point of what I said is this, and I'm trying to clarify any misunderstandings. The simplest piece of information that one receives that is so very important needs to be on the tip of a person's tongue. Information on this site is given in all sincerity and for preparation. Derogatory comments in response to wisdom speaks volumes. Hard facts and the sharing of wisdom are not personal attacks. They are meant to educate, forewarn, the expectations at KP

I think he gets the point.

Is put on hold better than application on file? Because my DS has been on file since he got his MOC nomination.

My son's status went from 'Application on File' to 'Hold' soon after he received his nomination.

Just thout I should say this....I have just been put on "hold" status. After talking due the academy it's mainly because all of the appointments from my state went out early, and to be honest my application was in a month before the due date. I will say this though that they said im "an extremly qualified candidate". Unfortunately, the academy Will not tell me where I'm at on the list 1st or 99 it doesn't matter to them. I guess this might be the end of my application to the academy unfortunately. If things go south from here I will be extremely disappointed, but from the midship, teachers, new friends and people I've meet this experience has been worth it.

Don't give up. You have till you are 25 to enter the academy. If you want to get in, go to college or a military prep school. We need young people who want to serve their country. Please take the highest levels of math and science courses (Calculus and Physics and Chemistry) you can. Try for ROTC for navy or army.

The Academies do not tell anyone where they are on the lists for a few reasons.

The number placement on the list changes depending on who rejects their appointment. Someone in your state may wait till the last minute to reject b/c they got an appointment for their # 1 Academy. If they do reject, that slot opens for your state's next highest nominee to be appointed. Now there is a time on the schedule when all the states open slots must be filled.

After that date, EVERYONE is placed on the National List by rank of who has the highest scores.

Keep working toward your goal.
