Just submitted my online application to UNG tonight as a Finance major! Also the first college application I've ever filled out, it was actually rather nerve wracking!

I sent my ACT scores to them via the ACT website, now I just need to figure out how to send transcripts. My school has basically closed down for summer, so it'll be interesting trying to figure that out. I do live in a small town though, so I could probably go to my guidance counselor's house if I get too impatient! :shake:

Definitely excited to start my journey, hopefully ending in Dahlonega.

UNG is a great school - my DS received a 4 yr AROTC scholarship there, and will be reporting to FROG week as a member of the Boar's Head Brigade class of 2017 this August.

If you haven't already, you should also apply for an Army ROTC scholarship - a link to the Cadet Command scholarship page is here:

    http://www.cadetcommand.army.mil/scholarships.aspx

Other scholarships are available to UNG cadets as well - more info on those can be found here:

    Best of luck to you!

Thanks Bravo! Waiting to apply for ROTC until after I visit VMI in two weeks. What's your DS majoring in? I applied as a Finance minor and will probably attend SLI!

His major is within the Physical Science/Analytical mix. He also applied and had scholarship offers to VMI and The Citadel. If you like VMI, you might want to visit The Citadel as well - lots of threads and people on here with knowledge of both of those schools.

Sure did, figured I'd at least get one of my applications done early so they're not piling up in the fall :thumb:

    Great school

I had the choice of UNG or Norwich University and ultimately chose UNG; just felt like home, and the corps is just superb

    What's your major, Rancid?

I visited VMI today, and I gotta say its going to be a tough choice between the two! If only VMI had the residency deal like UNG does, the Institute is just too expensive for OOS!

The SMC’s are all good schools. If you are considering Finance as a major you should be aware that members of the Texas A&M Corps who are out of state students are also offered in-state tuition.

Opened in 1876 as Texas' first public institution of higher learning, Texas A&M University is a research-intensive flagship university with more than 50,000 students — including 10,000 graduate students — studying in more than 120 undergraduate and 240 graduate degree programs in ten colleges. Students can join any of 800 student organizations and countless activities ranging from athletics and recreation to professional and community service events.

But there's more than just numbers that make up the Aggie experience. There's access to world-class research programs and award-winning faculty. There are opportunities to learn in and out of the classroom whether through technology or through one of our branch campuses or international study centers.

As any of the following sections show, Texas A&M is "developing leaders of character dedicated to serving the greater good."

    Why Texas A&M?
•Texas A&M enrolls over 50,000 students, including over 10,000 graduate students. More than 5,000 international students from more than 130 countries attend classes here.
•The average SAT score for incoming freshmen is 1220 (Verbal + Math).
•25% of the freshman class are first generation college students.
•The family-friendly atmosphere makes Texas A&M a favorite not only of students, but their parents as well.
•More than 800 student organizations, including a uniformed Corps of Cadets, Greek Life, and The Big Event - the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation.
•Bryan/College Station is located within easy driving distance of four major metropolitan areas — Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas/Ft. Worth — making it easy to go home, or get away, for the weekend.
•See more at Aggie Bound .

You make a good argument for A&M! I do love the traditions that they have at College Station.

As of now, just trying to get my Proof of Lawful presence sent in. I think it's crazy that UNG requires an original birth certificate just for the application. I'm going to send in a copy and see if that works.

    Hi all,
Just wanted to say hi. DS graduated FROG week at UNG in August, Alpha Company in Liberty Hall. He loves college so far, and the corps of cadets. Would love to connect with other parents through this forum. Glad to be here, and congratulations to those of you who are cadets at UNG!

Hi payitforward - congrats to your DS, and welcome to the forum!

My DS is also a freshman - in Foxtrot / Patriot Hall. Settling in to classes and life in the Corps, and loving it overall.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, etc. Figuring this all out myself, but happy to help in any way I can.

    Hi Bravo,
I've been following the forum for a couple of years, but just now finally signed up. Was going to PM you -- to get this out of the thread -- but need 5 posts before I can send a PM. Can you PM me? Thanks, and good to meet you!

Ok, I hate to do this, but I'm writing in here just because I need to get my post count up. I wrote a rather desperate-sounding PM to you, Bravo, just now, and then when I hit send, the dang thing bounced me out of the system saying I needed more posts. So off I go to create more posts. Sorry everyone for the waste of digital ink on post-upping drivel.
