Just a quick question, I'm fairly new to the whole process of the Coast Guard Academy. I'm a Junior in high school.

Since the Academy doesn't require a congressional nomination, does the Academy pay attention to the states that the applicants are coming from?

For example if you have 2 candidates with above average, but not stellar qualifications, but one is from Florida and the other is from Kansas (or some state that doesn't typically go to the CGA), is the Kansas one more likely to be accepted?

    Thanks for your help

We are aware of where applicants are applying from, but it really plays no role during the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board review process.

Hi! Im a high school junior also new to this forum. I recently visited the Academy. They said the state you live in matters when it come to AIM. Im from Rhode Island, and live very close to the campus. They said someone from Kansas has better chances of getting in than me because I can visit other days and could do the cadet for a day. So that is something that is effected by the state your from but I think thats about it.
