What are my chances coming from Vermont. I just received my Nomination from my Senator a couple days ago and am completing my medical and interview when I return back to Vermont. (I am currently travelling for Ski Racing)

noone can tell you your chances just by stating that you're from Vermont and that you have a nomination. Theres so many factors in their decision, noone would know for sure even if you showed your stats.

I am also from Vermont, and on my school's ski team. My guess is that it is easier to get nominated from a Vermont representative, because the population is lower and generally few people from here join the military. Ultimately, though, you still need to strive to be as competitive as possible.

I have a friend up in VT who is applying also. From what I've heard, the chances are higher there. About 10-15 people will try for the Naval Academy, half of them will drop it. So if you have good SAT scores (590+) you should be set. That is for all Academies too. Only 10 applied to West Point I believe. :thumb:

Your state will not matter nearly as much as those awesome SAT scores you have! Wow!:thumb:

Although where you live is not nearly as important as you SAT/ACT scores, grades, CFA, etc. It does play a small role. All of the SA's try to represent all parts of the country equally and there are such things as "underrepresented districts". But, according to the list I've seen of last years numbers, there are no districts from Vermont that were "underrepresented". This in no way says that you won't get in, just that Vermont is more competitive for the Naval Academy. Just work on you scores and do the best you can. Good luck.
