Does anyone know how or when appointee visits are going to work? Or if usafa is even going to do it?

I think the class of 2013 was the last to have an official appointee day...due to budget cuts.

The visits for the appointees are supposed to be arranged for the month of April for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have already arranged a visit for our appointee (DS) for Wed. April 11th. We will be flying as a family to Colorado Springs and spending one night near the academy and then have a day of the tour.
My DS cannot wait to go, because he has never been to the academy yet.
You can contact the academy to arrange a tour specifically for the appointee.

I went during parents weekend... amazing! Such a beautiful campus! I also got to see the 4 digs before recognition, which gave me an idea of what its like before they get recognized.

Regarding Visits for the Appointees

Since several of you have sent me private messages, I thought it might be helpful to post the information to everyone. My son has not yet seen the USAFA so, during the month of April, the academy reserves tours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for future cadets with appointments. We are not traveling with our son to I-Day in June so we will be traveling as a family to the USAFA on April10-11. We made our tour arrangements for a "day with a cadet" through Lt. Jerra Turner. She scheduled my son for April 11th. Her phone number is 1-719-333-2233. She was very, very helpful and very kind.
Congratulations to everyone with the appointments. This visit is OPTIONAL and not mandatory. Since we are not going in June, we wanted to go with him and chose Easter break from school to arrange his tour.

Thanks to everyone on this forum. You have been such a help to our entire family.

Sorry, but I just have to mention this: Back in 2006 (when SAF started), Lt. Jerra Turner was one of the young candidates on SAF asking questions. She was one of the attendees at the SAF dinner at Famous Dave's before the 2007 orientation, at which several 2010 grads like Eagle36, Raimius, and Hornetguy (who were doolies at the time) offered to meet with the candidates for dinner to answer any questions. Our son was there, also, along with several other 2011 grads (like Jerra) who first met on SAF. It's great to see that the circle has come around and she is now helping new candidates.
