-If you are your MOC's principal nominee for a slot to the academy as well as qualified academically, medically, etc. Does the academy have to give you an appointment?

-exactly what is Academically qualified? are these just the standards that allow you to open up an application... including your standardized testing scores?

    Any help would be great!

If you are 3Q'ed and have a principal nomination, then yes, they must offer you the appointment.

I was wondering about the "academically qualified" part myself.

If you have the Principal Nom but you are medically disqualified for something waiverable will the academy recognize your principal nom and pursue getting a medical waiver?

It's entirely up to the Academy and how bad they want you. They probably would but there are no guarantees and I imagine the reason you were medically disqualified plays a big role in the equation. Keep in mind they also have to consider the soldiers in the field and what might happen if you were to "succumb" to that condition (whatever it is) in a combat situation. So it's not just about you, it's about the troops too.

EDIT: Also, keep in mind that even if a waiver is pursued, it may not be granted. Don't really mean to be a downer but it's probably better to be pleasantly surprised than to have raised expectations... IMHO anyway.

Academically qualified means that the admissions committee has reviewed your application and deemed that you would likely be successful in the academic program at WP. They use a number of means to make that determination starting with - no real shocker here - your standardized test scores, class rank, and academic history (transcripts from HS and college).

So when do they make that determination? After the 7th semester transcripts? Or do they look at that, say, now?

You could be notified now via the portal. They are issuing Letters of Qualification and Letters of Encouragement.

Once a file is complete, they will review it. They can do academic qualification with 6 semester transcripts, but it is contingent on receiving the 7th before the file completion deadline.

If you have a principle appointment and are 3Qd you will get an offer - IF no other bad info is received on you and your 7th semester grades are OK. In short - you will get an offer unless something unusual happens.

If in college you receive ONE 'C' and this is your first C in your life (high school and college included) can this be detrimental? This class is by far the most rigorous class I have ever taken (Programming). Thanks.

Even if my overall GPA is still a 3.55? I am waiting on an exam grade in that class which will give me more insight into my grade projection.

    not a problem

My DS is currently a cadet at WP. He had to go the college route because he had a medical DQ. When in college he got a "C" in chemistry as an electrical engineering major. Applied again for WP - got a nice recommendation from his AROTC commanding officer and a nomination from his MOC. Got accepted into WP.

Currently he is crushing it at WP - on his last exam he got 194/200 on his advanced multivariable calculus (MA153) and 198/200 on his advanced chemistry I (CH151).

So the answer is no - a "C" in college wont kill you. Just be sure to keep improving the best you can, including the ACT and outside activities, give the admissions board as many reasons as possible to ask you to attend.

Thank you for the personal account! I am excelling in all my other courses (Mech E) and I have studied constantly for these tests, but the tests destroy me. There is still hope for a B, but I am covering all bases just in case.

UPDATE: Grades have been finalized and after working my butt off...No C for me, I dominated the Final Exam and ended with a solid B in the course. Overall college GPA is > 3.6!
