DS got an email last night with an offer of acceptance to AFA, great day here as my middle son surprised us by coming home late last night from college in Tallahassee!

He has an appointment to AFA and NA, so it's decision time. We plan to revisit both before he makes the final decision, it would be nice to do back to back visits, but not critical.

Any tips, pointers or ideas on how to best handle the visit? What days, etc.? We'll of course have to set it up, I'll call our ALO about that. I'll post this on the Navy side also.

Thank you!

This might be out of your control, but Admissions will likely begin the game of scheduling visits after Recognition. Not anything wrong with that, just be aware USAFA is hugely different after Recognition. Its called AFU (Air Force University) and the whole atmosphere is generally more relaxed. I know because of my own visit and experience with doolie year. My recommendation would be to do the official visit because it lets you get a more up close view of cadet life, but keep in mind that up until Recognition USAFA is quite more intense than what you will likely see.
