Are Blackberry's allowed at either USMAPS or West Point for your phone?

My son has a Blackberry Storm and I wondered if that's allowed at either West Point or USMAPS?
We've started to look over the "what to bring" list and he saw that he was only allowed to have an alarm clock with no radio. Not that that's any worry, he (we) thought a PDA phone might be considered not allowed?

I can't answer for USMAPS, but at USMA he will not be allowed to have a cell phone during Beast. If he brings it to R-day it will be packed away in his bag until Beast is over. The other option is if you are going to A-day, bring it to him then.

Thanks WAMom, I should have mentioned that I knew phones were forbidden at Beast. We will definitely see him A day and give it to him then. Again, thanks

I read somewhere "...till they (SA) realize what they are" No need for a PDA, TV, DVD, VCR, i-Pod and video game!

Cadets actually have all and use all those things (depending on their company rules) -- so I really don't think they are in any danger of losing the right to have a Blackberry. USMA actually issued a PDA as part of the computer package for the class of 2008, and all the issued computers have the capability of receiving TV and have a built in DVD player. My son has his computer set to automatically download "The Unit" series so he can watch the episodes when he gets time. Their internal server has video games on it that everyone plays. Now, finding the time is a whole different matter...

Last year when my son was a plebe his company had a no Ipod rule during fall semester. The rules regarding music, dvds, etc. vary by company but I never heard of a company not allowing plebes to have cell phones.

The reason I ask is the "what to bring list" at USMAPS says this, and I'll scroll down to:

Shoes, Civilian, Dress, Low-Quarter, Leather, All-Black or All-Brown
Matching Leather Dress Belt (1 ea.)
Clock, Alarm, Battery Powered (No integrated radio, CD,
    cassette, etc.) (1 ea.)
    Pen, Black, Ball-Point (12 ea.)
Pencil, Mechanical or Wood Type, #2 Lead (12 ea.)

Notice the directions to ~not have any music on the alarm clock? Yet elsewhere they say your cell phone is a good idea?

I would be willing to bet it may be a size issue -- not a lot of room on desk tops, etc., and some of those clock radio things can get pretty large. They probably want make suer folks don't bring anything beyond a simple small alarm clock.
