Are USMA Admission Information Meetings useful?

Popping in from the USNA forum here bc the question caught my eye. DD was recently appointed for USNA 2028. She was in touch with our regional admission director about a paperwork question and that director mentioned she would be in town this week for one of these briefings. It was less than a mile from our house, so we decided to go over as we had never attended one while she was applying (we didn't hear of one during her first year of applying, and then this fall the event was canceled at the last moment due to an on-campus emergency).

As a parent who has been through this process x2, I still found it informative. A number of the local Blue and Gold officers were there, as were several members of our congressperson's nomination committee. I think the opportunity to meet the nomination committee people was great- DD had met with them for her interviews and all remembered her, so it seems like a great opportunity to make a good impression. There were families from all over in attendance, some coming from as far as the other side of our state (like 8h away) and even neighboring states. The room was packed.

The attire ran the gamut as others have said. There were several kids in interview type attire (khakis and blue blazer for boys, pantsuit for girls), a number of kids in business casual (polos and khakis), a lot of kids neatly dressed in Navy branded gear (most appeared to be kids who may have previously attended sports camps at USNA and were wearing gear from the camp), and then kids dressed in a more casual way. I think as long as you avoid looking "sloppy", you will be ok - like business casual or better, or nicely dressed (ie, pants/shorts in good condition, clean shoes, look "put together") in academy sports gear if you have it from a camp or something.
