Marine reservist armed with a tire iron beat and chased a man he thought was an Arab terrorist and even called 911 to say he was detaining the man, police said.

But the man he assaulted was actually a Greek Orthodox priest visiting from overseas who spoke limited English, police said.

That's why police arrested reservist Jasen D. Bruce on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Police said they're also investigating whether Bruce, 28, committed a hate crime.

The suspect's car was apparently stuck on AM.

I'll bite.

Dittohead, yes. This is a tragic story about some idiot's knee-jerk and inappropriate action. An act that brings shame to the rest of those in the military.

But, there are idiots like this in EVERY sector of society. What makes the military different is that we will learn and act upon this action versus just wringing our hands and obfuscating the situation by blaming everyone else but ourselves.

I think Gen Casey's statements immediately following the tragic events of Ft Hood speaks volumes. I also think ACORN's leadership's reaction to its problems also speaks volumes. One called for his personnel to stand up for the right thing in order to prevent actions of this kind (Sadly, this idiot didn't listen. He will be punished for his actions, severely). The other blamed the media for covering their transgressions. Different ways of handling bad situations; I prefer the way we in the military will handle this.

i have no idea where this thread is going either but I am fairly certain that the OP was a troll. I'm shutting this down as it seems apparent that this thread is only going to degenerate into a food fight between members of the forum.
