Army-Navy game

If I recall, plebes are not permitted to remain in Philadelphia (and party!) at the conclusion of the Army-Navy game. Unlike the upperclassmen, plebes are herded back onto the buses and taken back to the Naval Academy.

Is that still the case?

The reason I ask is this: If you want to spend some time with your plebe during that weekend, it does not seem you get much bang for your buck by actually attending the Army-Navy game. You cannot even sit with them from what I remember.

It seems to me parents are better off visiting with them on the following Sunday (the day after the game) in Annapolis. Attending the Army-Navy game seems to be a better idea once your mid is no longer a plebe.

Can anybody in the know confirm this to be true.

Thanks!

Plebe liberty after the game swings back and forth depending on leadership philosophy at the time. Just because it was a certain way the last few years, does not mean it will be the same this year. From what I have seen over the last several years, there might be a few hours liberty after the game for the plebes, then back they go on the bus.

Midshipmen are in a duty status at the game, similar to home football games, so the Brigade sits as a group. Plebes fulfill their usual role of spirit central.

What happens with the plebes this year may not be firmed up until academic year begins and the Brigade leadership settles in.

Much more fun to attend A-N when your mid is not a plebe, IMHO, and from feedback from parents of our sponsor mids over the years.

The liberty/weekend thing swings back and forth. If you live close and just want to spend 8 hours with your kid at the stadium then go for it. The powers that be at the A/N game are usually pretty cool about letting mids move around the stadium. I certainly recall escaping to the suite level to get out of the cold only to be invited into a suite by some alums for the remainder of the game. Your kid will figure out a way.

Ohhhh - I feel compelled to report that! You can expect a retroactive Form-2 in the mail. There is no statute of limitations for such egregious violations.

Haha, with the wonders of modern technology the Form-2 has been replaced by the e-fry. It is most frequently used by upperclass who are too scarred to approach people face to face. Much easier to point and click than to stand and speak, I guess.
