Army-Navy

It was a great game, but let's not say the N word for another year...

Perhaps it depends on what your aliances are. I was also there in 2008 for both march ons and they both looked very professional. Navy marched off the field, not sure who saw them 'running'.

Even the Mids I talked to admit it. They just don't practice it as much.

I long for the days of the big pageantry. The flyovers used to be much better.

So, uh...anyone else facepalm after that 2nd quarter fumble? I know it was just super unlucky but I still feel like we could have won.

As for the thing about TEEs - no I heard they would never make them optional. Apparently, you need to have final exams to be considered a legitimate college.

You do know not all classes have a TEE, right? The core classes do, but once you get into your major you will find some of these. So please elaborate how this is possible.

Also, I recall the entrance math class allowing cadets who scored above a certain score on all tests to skip their final.

Don't ask me - that is what an upperclassmen told us and it seemed to make sense at the time. What you say is true, but I'm still skeptical that the Dean would cancel all TEEs merely because of Army-Navy

The exception to policy 1st CPT tried to pass up was if we won all firsties would get out of TEEs for classes they had an A in. It was shot down.

March On

I know Army Navy is truly about football, not marching, but Navy certainly had a poor showing this year. I think I see Kindergartners lining up for bathroom breaks better. Also the goat taunting the cadets while IN FORMATION was disrespectful, gauche and behavior I would expect from non military colleges, not a place where leaders are supposed to be trained. I am proud that the cadets did not break formation to pound the bejeezus out of the goat--I guess that is why I didn't go to West Point.

Like this West Point rugby player a few years ago:

My son was a plebe when this happened. The Goat was running around in front of the Corp taunting them during the game. The rugby player finally had enough and jumped out of the stands to tackle the goat. :thumb:

I know, and Navy twisted it and said the goat tackled him. I saw it and he clearly tackled the goat!!!

But tell us about the real reaon we were all there, the game.

Gone never to return. The era has passed. Big brother is watching. Closely. The flight recorders in the new super hornets record EVERYTHING. The old days of "he said, he said" have been superceeded by a printout with elevations down to the foot. Guaranteed they will all now be at 1000' above the highest obstacle. Learning this has already cost the Navy a few aircrews. I would bet if the wing commander called with a complaint on Monday morning, if the skipper had not already reviewed the data and taken action, he would also be relieved.
THe only thing left are the Leap Frogs and the Golden Knights.

Believe me, it certainly crossed our minds

Mongo the game was not the reason I was there and I do think Navy's mascot was rude and disrespectful and the fact that he even considered that behavior as acceptable speaks poorly of the leadership at USNA.

I think the Navy team recruits with this video:

Probably a smart move for Army fans the past decade or so.

However, it is pretty desperate to start making up 'games' such as 'marching' or 'who has the sweetest mascot' and declare yourself the winner without letting the other team know what the rules are.

What is the big deal at this point?
I think it's ridiculous to live vicariously through these teams. Both teams have a very difficult task recruiting talent; Navy has been recruiting more talent over the last few years, good for them!
Seems to me they've been on a tear since about the time the Iraqi war really kicked in. :thumb:

I personally believe the whole D-1 SA Football thing is a dying tradition.

The rationalization of the losers gets deeper and deeper. Are we now adding to it the questionable patriotism of the Navy players?
