Is it possible to been in the Army Reserve while I am attending college and participating in ROTC?
It's called the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP)...google it.
I looked into it, and I had one question that I could not find an exact answer to. Can I do SMP in my Freshman year, or do I have to be a sophomore?
You can swear into the Reserves as a Freshman and depending on the guidelines receive tuition assistance during your Freshman year. You cannot contract with AROTC until Sophomore year or later depending on when contracts are available within your school. I strongly suggest talking with the ROOs at your top choice schools to get their advice and input about SMP cadets timeline to contract and any limitations in the number of contracts that they know about.
I think this blog post talks about freshman status for Guard or Reserve members who are also enrolled cadets.
