In the thread below, someone is saying, the first Army ROTC board is starting to meet tomorrow (Oct 11), instead of Oct 25th.

If this is the case, and they close the file by Oct 1 or so, my son missed the deadline.

Does anyone have any information on whether the Oct board date was indeed changed to Oct 11, instead of Oct 25 that was published in multiple threads and notifications?????

Sorry! The info I received was thru an email on 8 Sept, about 0745. That is what said 11 Oct. I saw the other thread. I don't know which is right either. But that's the date for my info.

I really think the Board date is 25 October. Spoke with personnel at Fort Monroe this week as well, and I am confident she said it was the 25th. Now, if for some reason the date has changed, it was changed this week. Tomorrow - the 11th - is a holiday, Columbus Day, so I sincerely think the date remains the 25th. Just my two cents...

Then your newer info trumps mine. Like I said, mine was Sept 8.

My son had his AROTC interview on Friday and we were told that the schools info is due on the 17th and student files needed to be complete by the 18th. The board meets starting the 25th.

I know the Army is a 365/24/7 operation, but I'd be really surprised if it started a "paperwork" process affecting hundreds of civilians on a Federal holiday. (today, Columbus Day)

The LT in charge of scholarships at one of the schools in my state is interviewing my son today. The Lt told us that as long as my son had his application, interview and PFT done and submitted by the 18th, that he will be considered at the October board which meets on the 25th.

The only caution I would add to that is that some interview results don't get submitted right away. Last year it appeared that it often took a week to get those into CC. So, my advice if you want to be considered for the October board is to try and complete the interview several days before the 18th.

News flash...PMS's now have the capability to input their interview results in the system...this means two things
    1. no longer are we relying on the mysterious fax machine somewhere in the bowels of cadet command, and the ladies in the scholarship processing section
    2. PMS's now don't have the ability to add handwritten notes to the interview sheet as they did in the past.

Now, this news has not been announced loudly or often. I caught it in some notes from a teleconference with the Brigades. I'll be curious to see how long it takes the word to spread. In the meantime, interview at Clarkson, and your stuff will get in ASAP. Anybody want to attend a highly ranked engineering school in up upstate New York???

My son's application is complete, so it's a moot point, but I am just curious for no good reason.

what does this mean? does it mean that only the total interview scores are showing with no "comments" and "observations" included?

PMS's were writing hand written notes on the front side of the form, where there are only check boxes to annotate whether they met certain SAL criteria (like SAT over 1100). The PMS can still type in narrative on what was the back side of the form. There is a block for "additional comments" where that information can be added. this year we are able to see the interview sheet for our applicants, no matter where they interviewed. I would say that some PMS's are better at articulating why an applicant warrants a scholarship than others. if the Lieutenant is interviewing you, I would tell you that you might want to interview at a different school.

Had a LTC interview me for AROTC. I had no desire to attend his school, just went there because it was the closest on the list (1 hour compared to 3+) and my parents had to work, I took myself. He told me at the end of the interview to send another email(I had already been in contact with them for some time) to the PMS's of the schools I was interested in and include his contact info. They each called him and talked with him about my interview over the phone. Hope everybody out there knows that yeah, PMS's want you to go to their school. But frankly, they want you to get the best education that you can and to become a 2nd Lt upon graduation. They'll work with you on where you get that education if they know that you will be worth their time someday.

    (Not so) Quick question

I had my interview on October 1st, PMS of the school submited the forms approximately one week ago via CCMIS, but Cadet Command's automated scholarship status notification system (both internet and telecom version) failed to register that he'd submited them, and thus, kept on telling me that my file was incomplete whenever I would check in. However, the PMS spoke with Cadet Command and found out that, despite the apparent disconnect between the internal network and the notificaton system, my file was flagged as board ready on the internal network.

So, do you think that the problem is related to the relatively new electronic submission process for interview related forms?

    also

If people don't know that their files are board ready, due to inaccurate notification systems, what potential problems could arise?

Are you talking about the message online that says you need to schedule an interview? That'll be there until something happens with your application. (Awarded a scholarship)

When my son checked on his application filed Monday last week he was told Thursday that they did not have it, and that the next board would be Jan 4th.

So don't know if he missed the cut-off, or they lost his appl, or what.

They had a big email problem and they checklist was instructing people to send scores/transcripts to an invalid address. When he got the bounce back he found the right address, but I'd confirm if you sent any materials that way.

As The OC Josh said: The Army status site will say that you need an interview until you are awarded a scholarship. It did the same thing last year. I don't know if it is a bug or by design but if you have confirmation from AROTC CC that your package is complete and ready to meet the board...don't worry about it.
    Good Luck!:thumb:

My son received the following email (not in response to an inquiry) about his AROTC status a couple of weeks ago:
