Army ROTC - when does the board meet?

When I filled out my application, I had no idea we had to take a physical fitness test. I turned in my application in December. Is it too late to take my test?
The following is from the Go Army website:

"Initial Application Deadline is 10 January.
All updates are required to be postmarked by 28 February.
If you submit an application via the web, do not submit a hardcopy application as well!"

The following is a checklist you can use to make sure your application is complete:

You should definitely get everything submitted as soon as possible so that you can get your application reviewed by a greater number of AROTC Scholarship boards and increase your chance of being selected.

Good Luck!

I heard somewhere that they were reviewing the OMLs this week so maybe this week or next.

Which dates are the selection board dates? A little further in this thread there is a post which states the selection board dates as January 4, March 1 and April 4. Can anyone verify any of these dates? I am trying to help DD decide whether or not to try for a higher ACT score in time for a future board.

go for the higher ACT. Once your DD has been seen by a board the only changes/updates made to their application score are ACT and SAT scores which will automatically up their score if they do better.

Thank you - that's what we have decided to do. As to the second part of my question - does anyone know the correct board dates/when does the next board meet? I saw the deadline to turn in documents on the web site - Jan 10. The PMS at my daughter's school of choice told her the next board meets January 10. Hopefully someone sees this confusion!

ROTC Board Meeting

I talked to my contact point at the college I wish to attend and he stated that the board is meeting on January 10 and it is just coincidence that the application deadline is the same day. They will review the apps that whole week and send out the letters during the last week of January. Hope this helps! :thumb:

3rd board date

Was told by several PMS's that the 3rd board meets Monday January 11th.

January 10th is a Sunday, an odd day for either a cutoff on input or a board meeting.

I would imagine though that they cut off the applications first thing in the morining on the 11th and proceed to score the new applications and update the existing applications that have new GPA or test score info. Then they can merge the new/updated applications into the existing OML. That should take about a week. With the cutoff for the previous (December) board scholarship acceptance occurring at the end of that week, they should know how many scholarships they have left at which schools (based upon the acceptances processed) on the Tuesday (19th) following the federal holiday. They can then take the week to go down the OML assigning remaining scholarships to the top applicants until they meet their quota for the month. Perhaps they will get the results online by that Friday (22nd)? Most likely done and mailed on the 25th.

This would be consistent with the timing of the December board and notification process.

Let's hope this will be the first of the big boards. :thumb:

Hey everybody, just wondering and sorry for being off subject, would an ACT composite score of 30 be competitive for an ROTC scholarship? Thanks.

Has anyone been awarded a scholarship yet?

... would an ACT composite score of 30 be competitive for an ROTC scholarship?
If all ROTC looked at was your standardized test score, then YES an ACT of 30 would be competitive. While an ACT 30 is a good beginning, keep in mind that the ROTC scholarship boards are attempting to evaluate the "whole" person and are also interested in GPA, ECs, leadership experience, essays, PT and interview results. Good Luck!:thumb:

Yes. A number of people on this board received notification that they were awarded AROTC scholarships about a week before Christmas. Good Luck with the January board.

We were told by the PMS at our son's top school that the board was meeting this week (January 5th, to be exact). This was also confirmed by CC. I wonder why the different dates?

Unless you are scrambling to submit an application to make this board, it probably doesn't matter much which week the board meets. I believe they want to wait until the existing scholarship offers have been accepted (or declined when multiple schools are offered) to see which schools have how many scholarships to offer on this round of notifications. IIRC the last round of letters were dated Dec 17, giving them 30 days to notify CC of their decision. That would occur sometime over the MLK weekend by my math. They can't really act upon the board decisions (OML scores) until this occurs as effectively because they can't offer all potential scholarships available.

Now if you are trying to squeeze an application in, you might be sweating about this. And unfortunately, around board time, the folks at CC seem to stop answering emails (kind of busy with the task at hand I guess) based upon reported experiences of others around here.

I jotted down the dates last month (board met 11/30-12/4, website status changes 12/17, letters rec'd 12/19-12/21, reply due by 1/17), so I agree with your thinking. My son's birthday is 1/23, so we'd love good news for his 18th birthday!
