The Rabble pitched a shutout effort this afternoon. Nice to see, though I can't believe the Corps has moved. Football in the sunshine? The Corps has!

For those of you watching on TV, I had to cringe at the cadet reporter. She was wearing a star-wreath and a gold star. If you're going to be on national TV, get your uniform right!!! (unless they've changed what the gold star means).

I hope USAFA takes it to OU but I don't see it happening.

Watching AF- OKlahoma Now- It's not a blowout.
I think Army is shaping u to have a good season- next 4 games: Duke, Tulane, Rugers and VMI- they could take 3 of those (I reserve the right not to say which one I think will not win:rolleyes:)
It's nice to see them not being doormats anymore- shows the value of a coach who understands the program.
Beat Navy :thumb:

So any predictions on AF vs Navy week after next?
AF has been playing tough with the "big boys" while Navy has been looking kind of anemic this year. They should have beat LA Tech handily last night - I didn't see the game but score (37-23) doesn't look all that awe inspiring. I'm betting AF over Navy. It's a little early to tell on Army yet- They put a beating on North Texas - we'll see what they do at Duke next week.

I guess you need to explain the Cadet Reporter comment - I know what the gold star is but what is the star wreath and why do you think she was off in wearing both??

Unless something has changed...

The gold star is for a GPA above a certain level...3.5 I believe? Maybe higher. It's academic-only.

The Star-Wreath is for GPA, Military, and Physical. Many, many years ago  it was SOP that the Star-Wreath supercedes the gold star. It was like CIB vs. EIB. You may rate both, but you only wear one.

But who knows...the Corps sits on the other side now, so who knows what's changed!

The wreath is for being in the top 20% of your class (all three areas). The star is a separate award (just based on GPA of 3.67 or higher). The wreath with a star is top 5% (all three areas). http://www.westpointcadets.org/USMA/CadetAwards.htm

Yes, that sounds right. My curiosity stems from the hierarchy and what the army views as badge categories. It used to be that you couldn't wear both simultaneously per the SOP. But they may have changed that. I hope they have, because I cringed when I saw it.

As my cadet has not earned both, I do not have a first hand response. However, one of my WP mom friends has a son ranked extremely high...I will do some checking and get back to you.

Don't discount Navy yet. Over 200 yds of passing the first half last weekend from a team that doesn't pass and then a 21-0 second half down south where Navy should have been the team that was worn down. Navy's defense matches up well against AF and they have been playing well as have special teams. If they could only play about 2000 less feet in elevation. We'll see.
