Army: wearing marksmanship badges as an officer?

Well, I guess I was wrong.

I was trying to contribute to LITS's comment. I should just stick to ROTC lol. Sorry guys.

Today's Marines are pretty decorated... maybe not to the level of the Air Force, but this aint your daddy's 5 ribbon WWII general days.

I have noticed this as well. Years ago we laughed at other branches and the ribbons, badges and such they sported. Walking through the airport and seeing the rows of ribbons on today's Marines is almost beyond belief - especially when you see them on a 20 year old young man with one tour under his belt.

I don't blame the Marines - just the cultural change that has taken place. Not sure why the change has occured but ribbons, awards, etc easily handed out garnish little respect - they become a joke.

Would like to see the pendelum swing back the other way - at least a little.

You just have to be careful regarding what info you soak in whether it be from cadre, cadets or the internet. Literally if someone hung around a military forum long enough they could become a proficient enough expert to impress quite a few people. Problems arise when you start making a few statements on a public forum where actual military members know the reality.

The reality: Tons of MFE officers are not Ranger or ABN qual'd and funds have nothing to do with flag level officers and support branches

Thank you for saving me some embarrassment gentlemen. I’m a newly commissioned 0-1E who was last an E7. AR670-1 states it’s authorized but there seemed to be some discrepancy in what I’ve seen in use. Won’t wear them.. the “we don’t do that” thing makes sense. Thank you!!
