AROTC Board News - Scholarship!!!

I hope you don't think I was criticizing you. I just got a little chuckle out of it. I poked fun at my son for choosing schools that spread more than halfway across our country. Congratulations to you.

DanGir, Thank you for the congratulations! I was not offended at all, sorry if my post sounded like it

The Barrett Honors College at ASU is well respected and offers a lot of perqs. If you already received a good scholarship offer, you might also qualify to study within the Honors College.

Thanks for the info. I actually did receive a letter recently from ASU regarding Barrett Honors program. I will definetly have to look into all the perks you mention :thumb:

I'll post my stats as well--I most likely received the scholarship because of my academics.

ACT: 33, (34 superscored) 10 Writing
GPA: 3.92/4.00 uw no B's
Rank: 16/651
Courseload: rigorous

ECs:
President of NHS
Captain of Speech Team
Rec Baseball
Rec Basketball
Running
Calculus Tutor
Church Volunteer

Work:
A lot of hours a week during school year and summer--around 25 school year and 50 in summer

Physical Test - administered by current army general
Push Ups - 54
Sit Ups - 51
One Mile - 6:50

I will be turning down the scholarship offer, so best of luck to those of you waiting, I hope you can appreciate it more than I could.

Rupre07 Just curious why are you turning down the offer? Did you get into an academy?

Not to pry, but why would you want to decline the offer?

I do not stem from a military family--not that it is necessary--and they have been very negative towards going into the military. Earlier in my high school career I really wanted to do ROTC and thought it was the only possible option--I had to do it. But recently, I have been shy towards the idea of committing eight years of my life to the military. I may entertain the offer and decline at a later time just to make sure I am making the right decision, but as of now I am no longer sure it is for me. Also, the colleges I listed were UW-Madison and UofMN-TC, which I no longer am interested in attending. I will most likely be attending the U of Notre Dame or (hopefully, but unlikely) the University of Pennsylvania, in which I doubt the scholarship would transfer.

Army PFT calculator

Again congrats to all. Job well done! Below is the link to the Army PFT calculator for your reference.

Also if memory serves there will be 3 youtube links in your scholarship offer letter showing proper form. It is a great resource, please use it. When starting out most everybodys form is not to standard.

Most everything you do from this point out is out of your control i.e.. DoDMERB, school choice, changing schools ect.. One major item within your control is your fitness level. Work harder on your fitness than you have ever worked before. You do not want to be the person who shows up out of shape and cannot contract. I wish you all the best! :thumb:

@Vista123
I only have Berkeley listed but I was told I was awarded a 4-year to other schools by their scholarship officer. So, I'm not quite sure what this means.. I guess we'll have to wait until the actual letter comes!

I got

THE CITADEL

The University of Texas at Austin was my first choice, but that's a small battalion so I figure the numbers were against me.
