Are you notified by mail, email, or the AROTC portal ? Not sure if checking the portal will be of any help. Is it the same for NROTC also?

You will receive an offer letter in the mail from Cadet Command. Until you see that letter nothing is official. You may see something change on the portal. You may receive a call from a ROO. You may get an email from a PMS. Until you receive that letter things can change.

We found out from the portal first. The letter came a few days later.

Thanks for the replies. What is changed on the portal? Does it actually say you've received a 4 or 3 yr? However, I will wait for the letter from Cadet Command. I am hoping around the end of the month.

It varies. It will always say that you have been awarded a scholarship. It may say one or more schools, not necessarily all. It won't tell you the type (3 or 4 yr).

The best thing you can say is that you should watch your mailbox in the next week.

For my son, it was updated on the portal 3 or 4 days before receiving the letter in the mail. Basically the portal just said he had been awarded a scholarship at his first choice. The letter listed all the schools the scholarship was offered at and length of scholarship.

DoDMERB was the tell last time.....

When my #2 son applied 2 yrs ago he found he had received a scholarship when he received his DoDMERB paperwork. We would not have known he was "in" had we not been reading this forum and learned that the DoDMERB packet was one way to know the candidate had been offered a scholarship.
Now it's #3 son's turn and since I am no longer new to the process, I can see there are additional tells and clues to being selected. No. #3 son just called me excited by an e-mail from the ROO today inviting him up in 2 1/2 weeks to spend a school day visiting the battalion. Hmmmmm:rolleyes: The timing for this invite is odd (in a good way:thumb:)
Wishing all here the best of luck this next week!

Don't want to somehow say something out of line here publicly. Will be glad to say what school and battalion if we get good news this next week or two. Good luck to you!
