    Hello everyone,

My ROTC scholarship status has not changed. Does this mean I have been sent to the next board? Or do they continue to change statuses over the next couple days? I believe that I am a fairly strong candidate (triple Q'd and triple nominated for USMA) and most of my school choices were not top notch schools. However, there is one thing. I have taken college courses throughout high school, so I was asked to send an explanation of my credits. I sent this to my civilian contact. He told me that all I would have to do is send proof that I am a college freshman when I enroll, and that was it. Is there a chance that this info never made it to where it was supposed to go, which I'm guessing could result in my file not being reviewed this board?

    Thank you!

Unless it were Marist or Clarkson posting I would say any comment on whether updates will still be coming over the next couple days is pure conjecture.

Each year we see folks who get accepted to the academy, but are not offered an ROTC scholarship. We also see extremely qualified folks with multiple nominations who apply to both and are not selected by either. There sometimes seems to be no rhyme or reason

I do hope the academy and/or ROTC come through for you but I would also tell you to have plan C in place.

Yes, this is possible. If CC asked for an explanation of your credits hopefully you responded directly to them. If not, it could mean your file was not in order for this board.

Thank you for the response, kinnem.

Will we get a notification if we've even boarded? Or does it just happen?

I really hope I am not one of those people, but if it happens, it happens! I'll keep my head up and continue to move forward.

Yes, I am trying to decide which plan C to use. It's either SMP at a university or enlistment. Still trying to decide which would best suit me.

Ah, I'm worried that this may be what happened.

For everyone that is trying to figure out Plan C:
Tonight is the deadline to apply to many colleges. If you did not get the scholarship to Expensive U, it may be time to widen the net to include schools that you can afford without a full scholarship while still hoping to snag a scholarship at the MAR Board. You may want to reconfigure your school choices in order to increase your chances in MAR.

If you don't get one in MAR, enroll in ROTC in the Fall and compete for On-Campus Scholarships.

    Shameless Plug Below:
91% of our Cadets are on full tuition scholarship (not including ones that enrolled this week). Most of these Cadets received On-Campus scholarships. You need to be on campus to get one of these. You have until midnight to apply to Marist College for admission in the Fall. You can apply using the Common App.

FYI, we tend to get all of our 4 Year Scholarship Offers at the JAN/March Boards. We didn't get any so far. Who's going to be Mr./Ms. Lucky ?

    Marist,

So i posted earlier in some threads asking whether or not today was the only day they would update the portals meaning that if i didn't see a change today I got pushed to the next board, which is not the end of the world. I just wanted to see what you had to day because I know you are a viable source.

    Thanks for the help.

I do not know the answer to that question to any degree of certainty. Two applicants have contacted me today after seeing a scholarship offer (to other schools) posted on the portal. The other 30 either have not checked or have not bothered to contact me. Unless someone contacts me claiming to not be able to see an offer that I can see, I will have no way of knowing whether or not some offers have not been made viewable for the applicants.

My gut feeling is that if you checked and saw nothing, you got nothing. At least this time.

My hunch is that the results were posted to coincide with the application deadlines for the state schools.

This is great advice to all the applicants still waiting, should be required reading.

My son's school also offered several Campus Scholarships this year, at least one 4yr, a couple 3.4 yr and a couple mor 3yr.

Come to school ready to perform well and you have a chance at a scholarship.

Remember the first chance to make an impression on the cadre is to do well on your APFT. A new MS1 cadet at my son's school this year had very solid stats from his application but did not receive a National Scholarship. When he arrived at school and took his first APFT he scored a 320, three weeks later he was given a full 4yr scholarship, it does happen, just be prepared.

I got that same letter on college credits and to figure it out. Did you provide proof that you will still be entering college as a freshman? If you did, your application should have been fine. I guess they automatically send those letters out to anyone who had previously earned college credits. Hope that helps!

    OP,

You have now learned the 1st thing they teach in the military...always, always double check your records prior to any board. Don't just trust that it is there and the information is correct.

It is your life. They actually will in the AD world send down your records about 6 months prior to promotion boards. I can't tell you how many guys didn't review it and just trusted the AF to have it right, only to be passed over. They than pulled up their records to see things were missing or incorrect.

I did, but I stupidly provided the proof to my civilian contact, not Cadet Command...
I guess I have learned a pretty valuable lesson. Thanks for the advice!
