Just got the letter that asks if you are attending the school you accepted the scholarship to or if you want to try and change it.
Just wanted to let you know so you can be on the lookout in case you need to change it.

Hope y'all successfully get to your top choice school.

did you sign yours and send it back in even though you have your school of choice?

The letter has a box to check for "I intend to use my scholarship at XXXXX" which is your school that you accepted it to but the heading on top is "Request to change ROTC Scholarship School of Choice".

Does anyone have any idea why these letters are being sent out so late in the game?

They're actually being sent out when CC said they would be. We were told May right after the last board results were given.

This is not late for this letter. It is sent out after the May 1st college commitment deadline to finalize the use of the scholarship. This allows the dust to settle for all those recipients who were on waiting lists for previously full ROTC programs and is used to affirm the rest. My son got this letter at the same time last year.

So does this mean if you switch schools you are guaranteed the scholarship at the other school?

No, the school must still have a slot open for you.

No, there has to be a allocation left at the school and you have to also send in your letter of acceptance.

I'm guessing that does not have to be the case. For example, John wants to transfer his scholarship to University A. University A has no scholarships left but one student at University A now wants a scholarship at Universtiy B. If he can be moved to B then John can go to A. By moving scholarships around CC should be able to get a better alignment of students to schools while still giving each battilion their budgeted allotment of scholarships.

I think this is what is going to go on next.

What you said is what we were told is going to happen next, but technically by moving the student from University A to University B, it now opens up an allocation at University A for John.

If no one requests to be moved and there aren't any open allocations left then how it was explained to us is that the only hope would be the campus based scholarships if there were some left.
That is how it was explained to us back in beginning of the year prior to my son getting his scholarship.

The wording in the letter states
"...Action on your part is required to ensure your request is considered."
There are no guarantees that scholarships will be switched. Just the fact that you may try.

Does anyone have a general time frame of when the contracting packet arrives, because my family is in the process of a move and I don't want to lose anything.

Does anyone have any idea when we know if they can transfer it or not after sending back the confirmation letter? Is it based on first come first serve or do we have to wait until everyone sends their letter back?

It seems to be handled individually by the schools.

My son hasn't received his yet but received an email from the PMS congratulating them again and making sure that they check in their emails daily and email back the correct mailing address so that they received the package. This just arrived last week.

My son's best friend (who just found out he was awarded one from this last board) already got his package last week.

Contact the ROTC battalion at your school and inquire.
