AROTC March Board Released

I was awarded a 3 year to my #1 school the University of Oklahoma #BoomerSooner I am so excited! Best of luck to everyone else on this board!

Congratulations. Actually, I was expecting it. Are you still punishing the scales at 275?

My DD is unable to check her dashboard. Anyone else have the same problem. Usually she can check the dashboard and see "Boarded".

For those of you who have been notified you received a scholarship...BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!! For those of you still waiting hold tight. It takes a day or two to get all of the results out to everybody. If ultimately you do not receive a scholarship all is far from being lost. Clarkson could probably give you more accurate numbers, but I bet a large portion of the cadets on scholarship were awarded at the college level and not the national level. Keep your grades up, practice the correct form of PU and SU and run, run, run. DS had several classmates who came in without a scholarship and busted their butt..those kids are now cadets with 3,3.5 and 4 year scholarships awarded at the school level. My advice is to prepare for your upcoming year like you have a scholarship in hand and make a great first impression. Best of luck to you all. :thumb:

Congratulations to everyone! Just found out I received a 3-year scholarship to the school of my choice!

My only question is how does the 3-year scholarship work compared to that of the 4-year?

I just checked my AROTC portal and my status says, "Winner"! However, I am a bit confused. At the bottom of the page, three schools are listed (Tarleton State, VMI, and Wyoming in that order). Next to each of them, under the status bar, it says "Pending Acceptance". What does that mean? Pending MY acceptance of the scholarship to any of those schools?

So Happy

My DS just found out as well "You have been selected for an Army ROTC scholarship." The school listed was his number three. All is good and we are already finding out what is next in the process. :thumb:

My DD was also awarded a 3 year scholarship. However, there is only one school listed and we have been to both websites. Does anyone know if that means that that is all she will be offered? Unfortunately, it is to a school she really has no interest in attending (although she has been accepted). It was listed because it is one of her in-state choices. Is there an option to ask to have it transferred to another school, or at least the dollars that it would cost to send her there and we pay the difference? By the way, congrats to all who have been awarded the scholarships.

My only question is how does the 3-year scholarship work compared to that of the 4-year?

A 3 year Scholarshipsimply means that the cadet will enroll in ROTC their freshman year, attend all classes, labs, PT, and training. They will not receive any tuition, book money, or stipend their freshman year. As long as they meet the ROTC requirements for academics and APFT the cadet will contract the beginning of their sophomore year and receive all funds starting the sophomore year. Once the cadet contracts the beginning of their sophomore year the scholarship is the same as the 4 year in terms of benefits.

As it has been mentioned before, there is always the chance the cadet may be offered an upgrade to their scholarship during their freshman year.

So for the freshman year just make sure grades are kept up, pass the APFT, attend all ROTC classes and training, and stay out of any trouble, do this and the cadet will contract the start of their sophomore year.

ChiledRoland76 - both sites you mentioned only list the one school...

ArmyBrat - we are in the same boat as you. Will try to get the scholarship transferred to #1 choice where he is accepted.

It's a 3 YR and both the school he received the scholarship at and the school he wants to attend are SMCs so maybe that will help???

Hopefullly there will be more choices once the letters are uploaded / snail mailed. We were guessing that if he was offered a scholarship, it would be the one in-state school at the bottom of the list. We're still thrilled with the status change though!

GoNavy44, Short answer: "Yes." Long answer: Once you decide which school you are going to accept the scholarship for, and submit your acceptance letter to Cadet Command, the other two choices will "disappear" and the school you chose will change to "Offer Accepted." Hope that explains it.

Congrats!:thumb:

DD won a 4 year scholarship and was given 3 school options. Now if she can only get through DODMerb, which isn't looking good at this point. :frown:

Congrats to your DD! Wishing her the best of luck that everything works out with DoDMERB.

Clearly it was too late last night to be awake posting. What I meant to say is, I was awarded a 4 year scholarship to three schools with my first choice school included in the list. I am relieved and excited to say the least. Mostly I'm super thankful to every person who helped me through this process.

DS was offered a 4-year AROTC scholarship at Virginia Military Institute.

Thank you for clarifying. It makes complete sense now, I guess I was in shock yesterday and wasn't capable of comprehending anything.
