Hey! I submitted my scholarship application back in August and I just wanted to know what my chances were.

GPA: 3.61 (All Honors and AP Courses)
Class Rank: 51/335
Top College Choice: The Citadel

Leadership: AFJROTC Unit Commander, Class Treasurer, Team Captain

Service: Over 300+ Community Service hours, Crusading Knights Service Club, Beta Club

Athletics: Varsity Letters in Cross Country and Track

PT Test: 5:47 Mile, 48 Sit-Ups, 51 Push-Ups

Scores: 25 ACT

Interview: I almost got max points except 10 because at the time I didn't have a high enough ACT score.

Should I get an AROTC scholarship? I also applied for Navy. Thanks.

I think you have a really good shot. You have to understand how many people you're up against (that I've seen so far) that have around a 3.6 GPA and around a 25 ACT. I think you have good leadership and I'm pretty confident you'll get at least a 3 year AD scholarship.

Where did you interview? What is your state of residence? And for the Navy, a lot will depend on your desired major.

I interviewed at University of North Georgia (nearest AROTC unit) and for navy my major is Biology. My state of residence is Georgia

Hey man,

You and I are just about the same in everything except you outdid me and PT make and I outdid you in ACT. I got my acceptance in November.

JROTC will help a ton (I am also an AFJROTC unit commander) with your application.

The only issue I can really see is your ACT score, and that's not even that big of an issue. Have you contacted the Citadel recruiter yet? I did my interview at the Citadel and he told me that he can give out Citadel recommendations to the board to help out.

Other than that you look pretty set. Good luck!

I also recommend, not just to Trackswag, but to everyone applying: Send out emails to the ROO at the schools you're interested in. I sent out my résumé to all of the battalions I was interested in, and I think it helped!

Oh alright. That makes me feel a little better. I haven't contacted the Citadel recruiter. I have been accepted though but I never had my interview there.

Yeah I didn't interview at VMI, but I called them and sent my résumé and I'm pretty sure they knew who I was when I let them know I accepted the scholarship there!
