AROTC Scholarship January Boards - Post if your status has changed

More reading of the tea leaves and entrails. Let say they were all alphabetical... that tells you nothing about whether or not there will be multiple schools listed in your letter. You still need to wait for the letter to see what's in it.

Patience. As an officer you'll need to learn to either await the information you need before making a decision, or be prepared to make a decision based on the information in hand. I know this feels like a life or death decision, but its not. Time to take a deep breath and wait a few days for the letter - beginning your preparation and education as an officer. Calmness under stress is probably one of the most important attributes you can develop. In the meantime you can plot your plans for what you will do depending on the contents of the letter.

Of course Zack, this isn't meant particularly for you but for all who attempting to read the entrails. I must admit its a great game though, but just a game. you must have better things to do. :thumb:

Thank you. That is what I am going to do. I have a few books to read for English class, so I should be able to put a dent in those. Time to relax. After all.....I actually WAS awarded an ROTC scholarship! The more I think, the better I feel.

OK, curiosity has gotten the best of me.

I was just wondering, everyone who has received a scholarship, did your status page change earlier to say "Medical: Received"

Just curios if that actually meant a scholarship was imminent.

OK. I guess I can live with reading tea leaves backwards.

Haruspicy is not for amateurs. Unless the haruspex has been properly trained by a licensed Hittite, it will be like looking at a dish of chopped liver.

Yes for my DS

My son was happy to see his portal today with a scholarship offer. He missed the deadline for the 1st board due to some bad information and was told by numerous people (including the PMS who did his interview) the odds were stacked against him due to his ACT / SAT score. That being said, the PMS said he would gladly take my son in his program over many of the others who have shown up at the Battalion with ACT scores in the 30s but with major deficiencies in other areas. He told my son at the end of the interview that he would put him somewhere near the very top of the hundreds of applicant interviews he has conducted. My son is a very smart and determined young man and has the honors and AP classes grades to back that up but he is a terrible standardized test taker. Some great advice from this board said that the only ones who don't have a chance at a ROTC scholarship are those who don't apply. Don't ever count yourself out when you are determined to do something. It is really all about the whole person! Very proud parents today!

There was no changes to my son's portal (Medical) until the scholarship was actually announced. It still stated (Not Received).

I checked my status last night and it still said "Medical: Not Received." I went to my status page after school today and found out I had been awarded a scholarship.

My DS's portal never changed as far as medical is concerned. It read "not received" until this morning when the scholarship offer was made.

Well I guess that settles it, it must have been just a glitch in the system. Good to know for all the applicants that are waiting for the final board.

I'm really, really, happy! I found that I was awarded scholarship to 2nd choice school, which really was my first choice but because it's private, I didn't think I would be getting one there. What a great surprise!

I'm going to the gym now to do some more sets of push-ups, sit-ups and other stress relievers. Go Golden Eagle Battalion!

Reflecting upon the online definition I managed to locate I think that, licensed or not, it will be like staring at a dish of chopped liver.

For those of you who received scholarships to your top choice, was this school also first in alphabetical order compared to the other schools you listed on your application? Just trying to determine if we still have hope that my son's top choice might still appear on his letter!

The school listed on my son's portal was the highest letter in the alphabet of all his choices. Not reading in to anything, we are happy and awaiting the official letter to arrive!

DS Medical did change to receive and was offered a Scholarship. He already had his DODMERB exam and is 3QD for West Point. Just waiting to hear from them which will be after February 26. Good Luck to all! Exciting times for all you seniors out there. Stay strong, focused and keep up your grades.
