Will anyone come to my scholarship night to present me with my scholarship? If so how do I go about making that happen and who would I contact?

When we spoke with the ROO he said that they coordinate that with the school. We gave him the info on DS's senior awards night just in case, and he said that is when they would come.

My kid's ROO sounded very eager to attend and present the award. It is, as you know, a great recruiting / public relations opportunity for the big green machine.

At my son't school, it was the counselor who arranged this. He contacted the closest ROTC battalion and they sent someone since we live several states away from the school where my son's scholarship was. It was a surprise (for me and my son) and very emotional.

Make sure your high school allows such presentations, not all schools do.

I have two sons that are currently in college, one at West Point and the other at Boston College, on a 4 year AROTC scholarship. On their "senior awards night" the Army did not send a representative. All other services were represented, including all of the other academies, and ROTC programs. In the end not a big deal, but if it is important to you, and it should be, I would suggest being proactive to make sure someone is there, if possible. I imagine it is a pretty busy time of year, for only a few folks, in each area.

DS received a 4 yr AROTC scholarship last year. First I asked the school. Once I got their approval I contacted the ROO at the battalion. They sent 3 representatives to senior night and presented him with a nicely framed medal and certificate. Like everyone stated thus far, it all depends on the circumstances and schools involved. Congrats to you guys!!

Mom new to forum

I'm not sure how to navigate this forum so I am just jumping on. Could someone tell me if all boards for AROTC scholarships have met and if all decisions have been made and communicated. My son's status still reads BOARDED...not sure if all scholarships have been handed out. Thankful for any information!

All boards have met for the Army ROTC scholarships and results were released last month.

As an answer to your question.... Yes, the boards have convened. No, not all the scholarships have been handed out. The nationally awarded advanced designee scholarships may have been handed out, but there will be campus based scholarships offered once your son is on campus somewhere. If you kid wants to be an Army officer, tell him to report to the ROTC office as soon as possible and start working on a campus based scholarship.
