I know it is possible to switch schools on an offered AROTC scholarship. But, is it possible to switch the stipulation on major? My 4-year to The Citadel has a stipulation that my major must be an engineering major. I may instead want to major in chemistry, maybe even crim j.

So, is it possible, and heard of, to be authorized a switch in major from the one stipulated on the offer letter? I know that switching from engineering to crim j, a non-technical, would probably be harder than switching to chemistry, a technical major.

You nee to check with the Citadel's PMS on that. My gut feeling is that switching from one hard science to another would not be an issue. I am not so sure that you would be able to switch to Criminal Justice.

At last year's AROTC orientation for the Class of 2014 - the day before matriculation - the cadet recruits were told one change of major was allowed (can't remember if caveats were attached). I don't know if the rules are changing for the Class of 2015.
Having said that, MaristCollegeROTC has the best advice: contact the school directly. The folks in The Citadel's AROTC office are very helpful. Good luck!
