AROTC Uniforms

Sorry, I meant to mention the commissioning too.
Scoutpilot, do you know any reasons why a cadet would commission after LDAC instead of at their school's graduation?

As for lack of branch on the new 2LTs, LDAC is still ongoing which most likely means the OML is not yet finalized. Wouldn't this impact what cadets branch?

ROTC cadets schedule LDAC after their junior or MS III year. So they won't be commissioned until their graduation.

My take - if you miss (or wash out of ) LDAC after MS III year you go after MS IV. You can't commission until after LDAC and I don't *think* they put you in the pool for branch and post until after LDAC. Passing LDAC is a requirement for commissioning.
I could be wrong but I think they are basically a year behind. In other words, they don't have a job yet.

Yes, the whole thing seems very odd to me.

because they did not graduate from LDAC prior to their senior year. see my post above.

Normally a ROTC cadet will finish their junior year, go to LDAC, pass LDAC, branch in their senior year and commission/graduate at the same time.

For a variety of reasons - this schedule gets out of whack. You can't branch or commission until you complete LDAC. If you have graduated you can commission as soon as you complete LDAC but you have to wait to branch.

Some of those also might be ECP cadets -those who went to a junior military college and commissioned after two years.

going slightly back on topic:

I was just issued my equipment. I also know you get a LBE (load Bearing Equipment), At a college visit, I have seen cadets wearing going to class before LAB. You are also issued all sorts of wet weather gear, the FULL pt uniform, a jacket, a backpack, a molle (looks similar to a camping pack) "pt mat" ect.

FYSA:

What you refer to as a "molle" is actually called a MOLLE rucksack, or more commonly a ruck. The MOLLE term you heard is an acronym which explains the type of ruck it is (i.e. it's part of the current MOLLE II family) and not the older, metal frame ALICE ruck. Fortunately for you, you'll likely never see ALICE equipment.

The PT mat is not actually a PT mat. It's a bedroll (for which a euphemism exists that shall go unmentioned). You'll use them for PT from time to time but when you need to replace it because you left at your last patrol base, you'll need to buy a bedroll. :thumb:
