AROTC "winners"

The process to do both was quite simple for my DS so unless they have changed since last year have him upload the new test scores directly into the portal and he will see a green check mark once they are accepted (I think it is a check mark but am not positive)

For the school selections my DS sent an email to cadet command and asked them to please change his choices by listing his top 7 and telling them which school he removed or changed, etc.

Thank You. I'll be sure to let him know.

Congratulations to those who have been notified of their scholarship award on the first board! My son received his notification on the second board last year, and the timing could not have been more perfect. One of his top schools didn't release their offers of admission until Feb., so it fell into the 30 day window for accepting the ROTC scholarship perfectly. For those who are still waiting, hang in there - it's not always a bad thing.

AROTC scholarship awarded

My DS just got notification on the scholarship website that he is a "winner" of the AROTC 4-year scholarship -- yeah!! It lists Georgia Tech as the school, which was one of his top three. Quick question -- his portal says that he has been selected to receive an offer of an advanced designee scholarship for 4 or 3 years for up to three schools on the schools he listed -- does anyone know the particulars of that? I assume that means he can pick from three on the list, and so long as there is space (and he is admitted to the school) he can pick which one he wants, even though it specifically lists Georgia Tech, and no others (he is plenty happy to use the scholarship there, though he is also interested in two other schools on his list).

For all of those waiting please don't get discouraged. The 1st board is usually very small. Also, look at the silver lining in this. If you win on the 2nd or 3rd board you will more than likely know if you were accepted into your college choices so you won;t have the stress some of these 1st winners are going though currently.

My DS was awarded on the last board (his stats were just OK) and we were days away from sending in deposits for another school. Get all your back up plans in place and then settle in for the wait.

This is an excellent post. For those not selected yet, remember there are many avenues to reach your goal. My daughter, a nursing major, was chosen in the 3rd round (not boarded until round 2) in 2010. Compared to the first group chosen, her stats other than GPA were very average. In round 3, she was offered 4 year scholarships to her #1 (private), #2 (expensive OSS) and #4 (cheap OSS) schools.

My son went though the process (2) years later and had better overall stats than my daughter (except GPA) but was still average compared to the rocket scientists getting chosen in the 1st round. He did overnight visits at his top (2) schools and was told by the PMS at both schools that he was going to get a scholarship and they both called our house more than once to "recruit" him. Well, he never did get offered a scholarship. However, his #1 school called him and offered him a 4 year scholarship out of their own school fund.

Bottom line...don't give up and don't lose hope.

ROTCparent - the portal notification is just that - notification. The offer isn't firm and final until you receive the hard copy letter. The letter will explain whether the offer is a 4 year or 3 year advanced designee scholarship, and to which schools he's been awarded.

It means they will pay 3 years at school "A" or they will pay all 4 years at school "B" and "C". You will have to wait for more updates to see which ones they are. In any case, there are sometimes opportunities for 3 years scholarships to be upgraded to 4 years.

Just received notification in DD portal this morning. She was awarded 4 year scholarships to her top 3 schools. One proud dad here. Very nice knowing plans b, c, d are all taken care of. YOU ROCK NICOLE...

Congratulations to your daughter.

Just keep that Plan B,C,and D in your back pocket until she gets through Dodmerb, and is able to sign her contract next fall.

Greta news, have a good celebration.

Last year, there was a separate website (apart from the application portal), where the applicant could log into to get more specifics about the scholarships they had been awarded. However, I just tried to get back to the website and it's not coming up. I'm wondering if they aren't using it this year. They keep changing things each year, so it makes it hard for those of us who have been through this process to help the newbies. As Jcc123 said, you'll know soon enough once you get the letter. Congrats!

Agreed....BOTH my kids got hung up in DoDMERB. My son's was cleared relatively easy but my daughter had to go through the waiver process. You want to talk stress, that's it. Trust me. You already have the scholarship and then get told you're disqualified.

Then the fitness issue. Nobody thinks their child will have a problem but at one of my kids schools, almost 1/2 the freshman didn't pass the APFT the first semester last year.

Was the notification sent out today? Did you check last night and it still said boarded?

Just curious, DD is also applying to Westpoint. She has already been dobmerb approved. She already sent her dobmerb in during the application process for the rotc scholarship. Will she have to do anything else for her medical.

Found out yesterday I received a 4 year scholarship to Auburn, UGA, and William and Mary!

No, ROTC will now use the Dodmerb physical she has already taken as long as she did not have any issues with the process. One less thing to worry about.

If your status has not changed by now, It's past the close of business in Ft. Knox, then you have rolled to the next board.

Best of luck.

My DS`s portal still says "scholarship selection/placement system" not "boarded"? What does that mean? Are they still looking at him or will he roll to the next board?
