I was just wondering, does anyone on these forums think that it has really hurt my chances to attend USNA by taking two art classes instead of one? I had to take the first one as a requirement, but i liked the teacher so much that I signed up for the next level the next year. Since they are not honors or AP, I thought that the Naval Academy might not think that I was serious about my sciences. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

There's nothing wrong with taking art if it's your 5th or 6th course and the rest of your schedule is filled with core courses (math, science, English, history, language) -- preferably at an AP/IB/Honors level. And earn mostly As in those courses.

Will it help you? No. But if you adhere to the above, it is unlikely to hurt you.

My DS took a similar class (debate) every semester but also did dual enrollment and AP so his class rank was strong. He will be a plebe on 1 July. Take the hardest classes you can, keep your rank and GPA high, and take the ACT/SAT until you max your score.

Thank you for the advice and wisdom, I appreciate it. It makes me feel better about my chances.

My DS took Art and Debate and he is almost a Plebe no more!
